  • Publication number: 20140115343
Abstract: A disc stores therein a computer program and encrypted information. A BIOS is executed at the time of start-up and starts the computer program. A TPM is connected to the BIOS by a low-speed bus. The TPM includes a register for storing data. A blob stores therein true hash values of the computer program and the BIOS in advance. The BIOS includes a hash value calculating unit that calculates hash values of the computer program and the BIOS and stores those hash values in the register. The TPM compares the hash values stored in the register with the hash values stored in the blob and decrypts information in the blob if the hash values agree with each other.

  • Patent number: 8599423
Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, an image memory handler (IMH) sets an engine descriptor for an engine unit and a virtual descriptor for a virtual video input driver, thereby controlling moving of image data from a local memory (MEM) to a hard disk drive (HDD). In a process in which the engine unit writes the image data into the MEM in such a manner defined by settings described in the engine descriptor, the virtual video input driver handles occurrence of an interrupt to a PCI direct access in such a manner that the image data is moved from the MEM to the HDD properly.

  • Patent number: 8082461
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a printing unit, a controlling unit, and a monitoring unit to monitor, while the printing unit and the controlling unit are in a power-saving mode in which power supply to the printing unit and the controlling unit is stopped, whether there is a resuming factor for resuming operation from the power-saving mode. When the resuming factor is detected, the monitoring unit sends to the printing unit a request to resume operation and a request to set a printing mode, before sending a request to resume operation to the controlling unit.

  • Patent number: 7944804
Abstract: In an optical disk recording method adapted to record information on an optical disk by a light beam incident to the disk in one direction, the disk has a plurality of rewritable recording layers including a first layer nearest to a plane of incidence and a second layer distant from the plane of incidence. A target layer where user data is to be recorded is specified from the first and second layers. Prior to recording the user data to a requested address in the second layer when the target layer is the second layer, a partial region of the first layer corresponding to a same radial position as the requested address in the second layer is set to either a non-recorded state or a recorded state depending on a characteristic of the disk. The user data is recorded to the requested address in the target layer.

  • Patent number: 7561507
Abstract: An information recording and reproducing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a running power controlling and recording unit and an interval adjusting unit which adjusts an interval for performing running power control and makes a suitable ROPC operation possible even if conditions for recording information are changed. When data recording is started, it is determined whether an ROPC operation is to be performed. When the ROPC operation is not to be performed, it is determined whether the data recording is finished, and when the data recording is finished, the operation ends. When it is determined to perform the ROPC operation, the ROPC operation is performed, and it is determined whether interval for performing the ROPC operation is to be changed. When it is determined to change the interval for performing the ROPC operation, the interval for performing the ROPC operation is changed.

  • Patent number: 7522489
Abstract: When an information recording medium is initialized, a block is determined to record the dummy data by referring to identification information for identifying a block recording user data and a block in which the user data are not recorded, and information concerning a last address of a recorded area continued from a beginning of the data zone. The dummy data is recorded to the block being determined in the step of determining a block to record dummy data.
