  • Publication number: 20060078296
Abstract: An apparatus that does not cause inconsistency between an original picture and an image for performing operations under a special playback mode. A transport stream from a receiver is supplied to a converter. The converter generates a data stream for normal playback. If a desired service contains control data for an interactive operation, a data stream for normal playback containing the control data is generated. Packets required for performing the special playback are selected to generate a data stream for the special playback. None of the control data is contained in the special playback stream. The normal playback stream and the special playback stream are recorded on a recording medium. In the normal playback mode, reproduction under an interactive manner is performed in accordance with the control data for the interactive operation. No inconsistency is produced between the original picture and the image for performing the operations because none of the image for the interactive operation is displayed.

  • Patent number: 7000246
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus not causing inconsistency between the original picture and the image for performing the operations even under the special playback mode. A transport stream from a receiver 34 is supplied to a converter 36. The converter 36 generates a data stream for normal playback. If a desired service contains control data for interactive operations, a data stream for normal playback containing the control data is generated. Also, selecting packets required for performing special playback generate a data stream for special playback. None of the control data is contained in the stream for special playback. Both the stream for normal playback and the stream for special playback are recorded on a recording medium44. In the normal playback mode, reproduction under interactive manner is performed in accordance with the control data for interactive operation.

  • Patent number: 6968569
Abstract: A data broadcast receiving apparatus includes a storage controlling unit and a reproduction controlling unit. The storage controlling unit stores data modules among a plurality of data modules included in received broadcast data, into a module storing unit and also stores storage information for each of the plurality of data modules into a storage information storing unit, the storage information showing the presence or absence of the data module in the module storing unit, a reason of the absence of the data module, and the like. When the user selects a data module as a reproduction target, the reproduction controlling unit judges whether the data module is stored unit, based on storage information of the data module. If the data module is not stored, the reproduction controlling unit displays a message informing the user of the fact and reason that the data module is not stored.

  • Patent number: 6954795
Abstract: A transmission/reception system for data broadcast comprising: a transmission apparatus transmitting audiovisual stream data for a series of plural programs and plural data broadcasting contents relating to programs, which are multiplexed to each other, and a receiving apparatus receiving the audiovisual stream data and presenting the corresponding program, while superimposing and presenting the data broadcasting content to the audiovisual data. The transmission apparatus starts to transmit the data broadcasting content relating to the program 2, before the time “t0” when audiovisual data should change from the program 1 to 2, and transmits the presentation start instruction message at “t0”. While, the receiving apparatus receives the data broadcasting content relating to the program 2, and performs a process for forming an image, and invisibly presents the data broadcasting content.

  • Publication number: 20030195948
Abstract: The reception device in two-way digital broadcasting system sends a transmission request for an object via a control channel of a network to a server device that stores a plurality of objects. This plurality of objects includes at least one object that contains data and at least one object that contains a control instruction for a synchronous transmission request requesting the transmission of data that is presently required or an asynchronous transmission request requesting the transmission of data that will probably be necessary in the future. The reception device receives the requested object via the data channel of the network. On receiving an object that includes a control instruction for a synchronous transmission request or an asynchronous transmission request from the server device, the reception device decodes the control instruction in the received object and judges whether a synchronous transmission request or an asynchronous transmission request is to be issued.

  • Patent number: 6584069
Abstract: A packet filtering apparatus selectively outputs packets among a plurality of inputted packets. A plurality of conditions are stored, with each condition being specified by a partial data position that indicates a position of a data part of a packet, comparison data to which the data part is to be compared, and a comparison criterion for comparing the data part and comparison data. Different conditions contain different comparison criteria. When filtering packets, a condition in one of the stored conditions is selected, and a data part of an inputted packet is compared with the comparison data of the selected condition according to the comparison criterion in the selected condition. Packets are selectively outputted depending on the result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 6557171
Abstract: A digital broadcast sending/receiving system includes a digital broadcast sending apparatus and a digital broadcast receiving apparatus. The digital broadcast sending apparatus multiplexes the audio data and video data of a broadcast program into the transport stream together with preselection control information which controls preselection information image facilitating program preselection, and sends the transport stream to the digital broadcast receiving apparatus. On receiving the transport stream, the digital broadcast receiving apparatus extracts the preselection control information, and reproduces a preselection screen on a display in which the preselection information image is superimposed on the video image of the broadcast program. The digital broadcast receiving apparatus receives from the viewer specification of a program to be preselected.
