  • Publication number: 20150248254
Abstract: A higher-level apparatus acquires apparatus identification information identifying a physical storage apparatus including physical areas allocated to a virtual volume. The higher-level apparatus may typically be a host such as the one described above, or may be an apparatus (a switch apparatus, for example) interposed between a host and a physical storage apparatus. Based on the apparatus identification information, the higher-level apparatus selects an access path that is connected directly to the physical storage apparatus including the physical areas allocated to the access destination virtual area in the VVOL and does not extend through any other physical storage apparatus. Using the selected access path, the higher-level apparatus transmits an access request designating the address of the access destination virtual area.

  • Publication number: 20120215127
Abstract: A flow sensor measures an amount of flow of a medium flowing inside a tubular organ of an organism by mounting a flexible substrate, upon which heaters are formed, inside a tube disposed in a manner so as to follow the tubular organ of the organism through which the medium is flowing, and by detecting a state of heat quantity generated from the heaters on the mounted flexible substrate being transmitted to the medium. In the flow sensor, at least the two heaters, formed upon the flexible substrate, respectively form symmetrical structures with identical heating capabilities under identical conditions, and the linear members, which supply power to the heaters from outside the organism, form symmetrical structures with identical heating capabilities under identical conditions, thereby allowing temperature distribution of the heaters and linear members inside the tube to he symmetrical. The plurality of linear members protrude in a manner so as to intersect from inside the tubular organ to outside the organism.

  • Publication number: 20120151174
Abstract: Provided is a pool capacity monitoring technique capable of appropriately predicting timing of pool capacity depletion even if there is a change in the external environment, such as an addition of a new application and a characteristic change in an existing application. In the present invention, consumption of each medium comprising a pool is predicted every time there is a change in the external environment, such as an addition of an application, to predict the capacity depletion timing of the pool, and the prediction of the capacity depletion period is recalculated. A predicted value of I/O consumption patterns of each application using a virtual volume is calculated for each medium from past consumption patterns stored in a storage.

  • Patent number: 8122116
Abstract: A method for moving a virtual machine is provided which considers an input/output between array groups and virtual machines after being moved. The computer system includes a physical server executing the virtual machines, a storage device having array groups, and a management server that manages a link between the virtual machines and the array groups. The computer system is characterized in that an estimated I/O volume of the virtual machine after being moved is calculated and that, if the estimated I/O volume exceeds the maximum I/O volume of the array group connected to the moved virtual machine, a search is made to find an array group whose maximum I/O volume is smaller than the estimated I/O volume.

  • Patent number: 7016957
Abstract: A computer network comprising a monitoring apparatus and a plurality of servers, wherein the servers respectively have a plurality of software programs, and a data file for storing error analysis information to be utilized for analysis of the cause of an error upon occurrence of error, for each software program. Further, the servers respectively have a function to transmit an error notifying message including a software identifier of a software program executed upon occurrence of error to the monitoring apparatus. The monitoring terminal apparatus has a function to instruct at least one server, specified based on the software identifier included in the error notifying message, to save error analysis information, in response to the error notifying message received from any one of the servers.
