  • Patent number: 6357418
Abstract: An internal combustion engine control system comprising the steps of supplying a reference position detection pulse and a low revolution ignition position detection pulse generated by a single pulser coil of a crank shaft sensor at a reference position of each of cylinders and a low revolution ignition position thereof through respective waveform shaping circuits to a CPU of an electronic control unit and controlling the internal combustion engine so that all the cylinders are simultaneously ignited at an extreme low revolution area where it cannot be judged which of the cylinders each of the pulses generated by the crank shaft sensor corresponds to when the crank shaft sensor generates every reference position detection pulse near a top dead center in a compression stroke of each of the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6216669
Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine adapted to precisely control an ignition position of the internal combustion engine in accordance with a revolution of the engine detected from an output of a pick up coil generating a signal in synchronism with a rotation of a crank shaft and an opening degree of a throttle valve by use of a microcomputer. Whenever an output of a throttle sensor is sampled, a three-dimensional map providing a relation among the revolution of the engine, the opening degree of the throttle valve and the ignition position is transferred into a two-dimensional map providing a relation between the revolution of the engine and the ignition position whereby the ignition position is determined by the two-dimensional map as soon as the revolution of the engine is detected so that the ignition is operated when the determined ignition position is detected.

  • Patent number: 5886418
Abstract: A marine power device capable of preventing a failure in actuation of constantly-driven loads required to be constantly actuated for continuing operation of an internal combustion engine, when various loads are actuated using both a magneto driven by the engine and a battery driven by the magneto as a power supply in a ship in which an outboard motor is used as a propelling equipment. The device includes a switch which functions to separate occasionally-driven loads increased in power consumption and the battery from the magneto when the battery is reduced in output voltage thereof to a level of failing to actuate the constantly-driven loads due to connection of the occasionally-driven loads to the battery or overdischarge of the battery. The switch is arranged at a position which does not affect flowing of a drive current fed from the magneto to the constantly-driven loads.

  • Patent number: 5482022
Abstract: A fuel injection system wherein a microcomputer carries out an operation of a fuel injection period using a generator mounted on an internal combustion engine as a power supply is provided, which is capable of preventing excessive feeding of fuel to the engine during restarting of the engine to ensure smooth restarting of the engine. The fuel injection system includes a charge storing circuit for carrying out charging of a charge storage element during initial starting of the engine, a discharge circuit for permitting discharge of the charge storage element to be carried out over a long period of time, and a signal generating circuit for generating an initial starting signal when the amount of charges in the charge storage element is below a predetermined level and a restarting signal when the amount reaches the predetermined level or more.

  • Patent number: 5373827
Abstract: A fuel injection equipment including a fuel injector for injecting fuel into a fuel injected space of an internal combustion engine and a fuel pump is disclosed. A generator which is driven by the internal combustion engine and has characteristics of being increased in output voltage or output current with an increase in engine rotation speed is used as any one of an injector driving power supply for feeding the fuel injector with an exciting current through an injector trigger circuit and a fuel pump driving power supply. Use of the generator as the power supply permits the fuel injection equipment to be controlled without requiring a complicated control circuit.

  • Patent number: 5216994
Abstract: A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine capable of being normally operated while using an output of a generator driven by the internal combustion engine as a power supply therefor. The system includes a switching circuit for switching a driving current fed to an injector from a main power circuit which uses the output of the generator as a power supply therefor. The switching circuit is controlled by a switch control circuit for which a power supply comprises a control power circuit. The control power circuit includes a storage unit for storing electric power therein, so that the storage unit may be act as a power supply when the output of the main power circuit is reduced, to thereby feed the switch control circuit with a power supply voltage of a level equal to or above an operable level.

  • Patent number: 5131367
Abstract: A method for controlling ignition timing of an internal combustion engine and an apparatus for practicing the method are disclosed which are adapted to determine ignition timing depending upon information on an engine speed detected, to thereby control the ignition timing. Pulsin signal counting is started evey time when a reference signal is generated from a signal generator to count first, second and third numbers N1, N2 and N3 of pulse signals, to thereby obtain information on an engine speed depending upon the difference between time T2 when the counting of the second number of pulse signals is completed and time T1 when that of the first number of pulse signals is completed, and then the information is used for obtaining ignition timing measuring time equal to a period of time between time T3 when the counting of the third number of pulse signals is completed and target ignition timing T1.
