Patent number: 8167134Abstract: A mesh panel of the type having a plurality of spaced apart apertures includes an internal frame member substantially in the form of a perforated sheet, and having a plurality of openings therein larger than the apertures. The frame member has substantial internal rigidity. An elastomeric coating encapsulates at least a portion of said frame member. In a preferred embodiment, a bonding coating between the elastomeric coating and the frame member securely bonds to both the elastomeric coating and the frame member. The bonding coating is of the type that is liquid before application to the frame member and is curable by heat or time to a hard plastic. Preferably, the bonding coating is partially cured before the elastomeric coating is applied, after which both coatings are cured by heat. The panel is particularly well suited for use as a sorting screen.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2008Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Tandem Products, Inc.Inventor: Nashat N. Helmy

Patent number: 8141715Abstract: Attachment apparatus by which a sifting screen is mounted to a tension rail of a shaker machine. The apparatus includes a portion of the sifting screen wherein a hem at the periphery thereof has a thickness smaller than that of an interior portion of the sifting screen. The hem portion further includes a wire cloth array which is cast in the hem portion. A shroud includes upper and lower segments which are folded back on each other. A hinge edge is thereby defined. Facing surfaces of the upper and lower segments of the shroud sandwich the hem portion of the sifting screen therebetween. Means are provided to inhibit movement of the facing surfaces across engaged surfaces of the hem portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2009Date of Patent: March 27, 2012Assignee: Tandem Products, Inc.Inventor: Nashat N. Publication number: 20100258481Abstract: A screen for sifting particles of a material being processed. The screen includes a portion having an apertured matrix. The matrix is defined by intersecting, generally elastic material segments. A frame extends around at least a portion of a periphery of the matrix. The frame can mount hooks for attaching the sifting screen to a shaker bed which vibrates the matrix. The elasticity of the matrix renders the matrix flexible and stretchable so that the screen portion of the sifting screen can be attached to a shaker bed.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2009Publication date: October 14, 2010Inventor: Nashat N. Patent number: 6231616Abstract: An assembly for effecting comfortable fitting of a prosthetic appliance over an amputee's limb stump which has an irregular surface. The assembly includes an inner, stump surrounding liner which is at least indirectly connected to an artificial limb, an outer, prosthesis socket receiving liner, and a vacuum pump for evacuating the interstitial spaces between the stump and the assembly and the prosthesis and the assembly. A plurality of pressure-sensitive transducers are further provided and disposed about the stump at locations spaced from each other, in addition to a controller, responsive to pressure reduction sensed by the transducers, to activate the vacuum pump to thereby form fit and adjust the assembly relative to the stump and the prosthesis relative to the assembly as the situation warrants.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1999Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Inventor: Nashat N. Patent number: 6006923Abstract: This improved screening apparatus for sorting various size aggregates utilizes a screen made of polyurethane having two sets of perpendicular evenly spaced parallel webs each of which enclose a wire provided for reinforcement. If desired, the reinforcing wires can be single or multiple through either one or through both sets of webs. Web segments extend between web intersections. Areas enclosed by opposed adjacent web segments provide for the screen openings. This area can contain either a single hole or a plurality of holes to provide a number of different screen sizes. The holes increase in cross-section from the screen aggregate input side to the output side to eliminate or greatly minimize particles wedging within the holes. Backing bucker bars of various widths attached to the lower side of the screen provide a predetermined screen cross-section when their lower edges are supported horizontally.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1997Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Assignee: Tandem Products, Inc.Inventors: Nashat N. Patent number: 5888230Abstract: Apparatus for effecting comfortable fitting of a prosthetic appliance over an amputee's limb stump which has an irregular surface. The apparatus includes a liner surrounding the stump. The liner is, in turn, at least indirectly, connected to the artificial limb. A vacuum pump is provided, the pump serving to draw vacuum at an interface of the stump and an inner wall of the liner, and a plurality of pressure-sensitive transducers are disposed about the stump at locations spaced from each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Inventor: Nashat N. Patent number: 5813365Abstract: A flooring system for use in an animal shelter. The flooring system is modular and includes a disassemblable base frame having, as components thereof, a pair of end crossbars, a plurality of longitudinally extending support members, and interconnecting elements. When assembled, the base frame is formed by interconnecting the end crossbars by means of laterally spaced support members. The interconnecting elements, in turn, interconnect adjacent support members and the interconnecting elements extend generally transverse to those members. The modular flooring system also includes at least one first panel and a second panel supported on the base frame. The one or more first panels are generally coplanar, and the second panel includes a portion, intended to support an animal mother when feeding her young, which is positioned to define a second plane, elevated above the first plane, and a ramp portion angling downwardly from the second plane defining portion toward each first panel.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1997Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Tandem Products, Inc.Inventor: Nashat N. Patent number: 5593454Abstract: An elastomeric sleeve, for retaining and attaching a prosthesis to a stump of an amputee. Typically, the sleeve is made of polyurethane, soft elastomer reinforced with a nylon or polyurethane mesh. This reinforcement, among other things, eliminates the possibility of support failure caused by a small tear or cut. The polyurethane elastomer is selected to have a resilience, load bearing capability and energy and impact absorption similar or close to that of the enclosed limb adjacent to the sleeve to reduce pressure points. The elastomer is also selected to be able to stretch up to 700% to 1,600% an original dimension but return to within five percent or less of the original dimension. These stretch characteristics are modified by a special mesh pattern, which permits a greater amount of stretch around the limb circumferentially than along the limb.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1995Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Inventor: Nashat N. Patent number: 5178457Abstract: A mixer fin such as those fixedly mounted within rotatable drum mixers. More specifically, a mixer fin comprising of a substantially non-metallic, e.g., polymeric, mixer fin such as those used within rotatable drum mixers, for example to mix concrete. The mixer fin having a non-stretchable cord disposed within the fin so as to minimize fin deformation during the mixing process.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1991Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: Tandem Products, Inc.Inventor: Nashat N.
