Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving an input that includes a start point and an end point on a raster image. The method further includes generating a line of interest on the raster image that connects the start point and the end point. The method further includes determining available data points on the raster image that intersect with the generated line of interest. The method further includes generating a first query to retrieve an elevation line from a database, wherein the elevation line is generated on the basis of the determined available data points and is optimized on the basis of a resolution associated with a display device. The method further includes displaying the elevation line on the display device.
