Date of Patent: April 20, 2021
Assignee: The Brigham and Women's Hospital
    Inventor: Nathalie Agar
  • Patent number: 9568477
Abstract: A system for identifying a bio-marker using mass spectroscopy is provided that includes a sample receptacle configured to receive a tissue sample, a mass spectrometry apparatus configured to receive the tissue sample and analyze the tissue sample using a mass spectrometry process to generate mass spectrometry data, and a computer system that includes a computer processor having access to a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions. The instructions cause the computer processor to: receive the mass spectrometry data from the mass spectrometry apparatus; analyze the mass spectrometry data to determine a presence of 2-Hydroxyglutarate (2-HG) in the tissue sample; and generate a report indicating a health of the tissue sample based on the presence of 2-HG in the tissue sample.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 2013
Date of Patent: February 14, 2017
Assignee: Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc.
    Inventor: Nathalie Agar
  • Publication number: 20160341712

    Type: Application
    Filed: October 23, 2014
    Publication date: November 24, 2016
    Inventor: Nathalie AGAR
  • Patent number: 9455130
Abstract: The present invention is directed, sample test plates that can be used in matrix assisted laser desorption ionization. These plates have an etched surface and a layer of MALDI matrix material. The invention also includes methods for making these sample test plates and to methods for using the plates in the MS imaging of cell and tissue samples.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 24, 2009
Date of Patent: September 27, 2016

  • Patent number: 8324570
Abstract: A system and sampling probe adaptable to an ultrasonic surgical instrument applies irrigation fluid and ultrasonic or vibrational energy to a target, and aspirates material desorbed from the target into a pick-up conduit. A suction source at the distal end of the conduit may aspirate the material released from the target with the irrigation fluid, thus efficiently sampling a broad range of materials from an arbitrary target to produce an analyzable effluent analyte stream which may be ionized and provided to the inlet of an ion-type analysis instrument, or may be fed directly to an instrument such as a flow cytometer, IR or fluorescence spectrophotometer, or other analyzer. Carrier gas may be provided to more effectively transport the desorbed material, and the probe may be incorporated into a robotic device to automatically carry out surface imaging or to effect sampling in hazardous environments.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 4, 2012
Assignees: Prosolia, Inc., The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20110144476
Abstract: The present invention is directed to devices for collecting tissue samples from patients. The devices create tissue fragments which are then collected by aspiration. The devices include signal emitters that allow the exact position where a biopsy sample was obtained to be determined. In addition the invention includes methods for obtaining tissue samples using these devices.
