  • Patent number: 7400978
Abstract: A method of predicting petrophysical characteristics of an underground reservoir by constructing a geologic model consistent with seismic measurements is disclosed which permits optimization of oil reservoir development schemes. A geologic model, from which seismic data are simulated in depth, is constructed in depth. The geologic model is made consistent with seismic measurements acquired in time by minimization of an objective function by comparing the seismic measurements with seismic data simulated from the geologic model and converted to time. During minimization, the interval velocities used for conversion are updated by comparing, within the objective function, an observed thickness in time ?Tobsm,n between two markers with a thickness in time ?Tsimm,n simulated from the seismic data, and by modifying simulation parameters such as the error ?simm,n on the thickness of the two markers estimated in depth.

  • Publication number: 20080162093
Abstract: An method of constructing a geological model of a subsoil formation constrained by seismic data having application to petroleum reservoir development is disclosed. Logs relative to geological properties are acquired and a seismic facies cube is constructed. Logs relative to geological properties and logs relative to seismic facies are then simulated. Then distribution of proportions is estimated at any point on the subsoil by means of the acquired logs in the well and of the simulated logs. A seismic constraint is then defined by constructing a lithologic facies average proportion cube from these estimated proportion distributions. Finally, a geological model wherein the geological properties are constrained by this lithologic facies average proportion cube is constructed.

  • Patent number: 6694263
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for facilitating monitoring, in the course of time, of the evolution of an underground zone by compared analysis of a certain number n of seismic record sets obtained respectively after n successive 3D seismic surveys (method referred to as 4D seismic method). The method comprises using a pattern recognition technique applied to all of the seismic events of the n surveys considered and analyzed simultaneously, which allows showing the evolution of the seismic events in the subsoil. The invention has an application for monitoring of changes occurring in a reservoir zone of the subsoil during production for example.
