Patent number: 9114848Abstract: A pedal-drive system for propelling multi-wheeled cycles includes two pedal level arms connected to a pair of two-bar linkages, which are drivingly attached to corresponding crank pins on each respective side of a common drive spindle, perpendicular to the cycle frame. The linkages rotate the said spindle per each pedal's downward stroke so that when one pedal arm is all the way down, the opposite pedal's crank pin is already beyond full up position, thus ensuring continuous rotation of the drive system. A sprocket on the spindle drives a chain, that drives a sprocket on a back wheel. For higher speeds, a typical bicycle multi-sprocket-cone and speed changing chain-derailleur may be incorporated. The pedal system may be used for small to large manually powered cycles, particularly scooters and bicycles, and may also include an auxiliary electric motor and battery for propulsion.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2009Date of Patent: August 25, 2015Assignee: ZIKE, LLCInventors: Nathan Anthony Scolari, Gregory John Owoc

Patent number: 9005060Abstract: A derailleur 10, for moving a chain 60 to different sized sprockets arranged small to large in a sprocket nest 101 is disclosed. The derailleur 10 has a pivot guide feed arm 11 for directing the chain 60 onto one of multiple sprockets within the sprocket nest 101. The pivot guide feed arm 11 is rotatably mounted at a pivot end on an angular pivot pin 12 and when the pivot guide feed arm 11 rotates about the pivot pin 12 an opposite chain guide end of the pivot guide feed arm 11 traces a path substantially parallel to a tangent to the outer periphery of the sprocket nest 101. The movement of the pivot guide feed arm 11 is mechanically driven by a user command and is preferably moved by a connected rod or wire or cable 109.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2010Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: Zike, LLCInventors: Nathan Anthony Scolari, George Robert Reiter

Patent number: 8622749Abstract: A four bar drive link system simulator 10 has a frame assembly 11, a proximal hinge attachment bracket 20, a bottom bracket simulator 40, a pair of crank levers 31L, 31R, a pair of coupling levers 32 and a pair of pedal simulator levers 22L, 22R. The frame assembly 11 has a plurality of guide rails, including at least a proximal hinge adjustment rail 22, and a frame simulator rail 13. The proximal hinge attachment bracket 20 is connected to the proximal hinge adjustment rail 22. The bottom bracket simulator 40 is attached or otherwise connected to the frame simulator rail 13. The pair of crank levers 31L, 31R is each attached at a first end to an axle 42 having its axis of rotation in the bottom bracket simulator 40, one crank lever being on one side of the bottom bracket simulator 40, the other on the opposite side. The pair of coupling levers 32 is each attached to an opposite second end of the crank lever 31L or 31R.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2010Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: ZIKE, LLCInventors: Nathan Anthony Scolari, Daniel Robert Cabral, Geoffrey Michael Bergmark, Robert Wayne Lewis, Jr.

Publication number: 20130005212Abstract: This invention is a mobility device such as a skateboard or scooter manufactured in combination with a bubble maker or a bubble making accessory comprising: a skateboard or scooter having a platform; a fluid reservoir carried by said skateboard or scooter in fluid communications with an actuator; a nozzle in fluid communications with said reservoir and carried by said platform so that fluid contained in said reservoir is forced through said nozzle when said actuator is activated creating bubbles. In the event the nozzle is mounted to the handle, the handle directed the direction of the nozzle. The actuator can be activated by the rider's hand or foot and be manual or motorized.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventor: Nathan Anthony Scolari

The guide end of the derailleur 10 has a chain guide, wherein the chain guide is a smooth surface or a roller or toothed roller. The derailleur 10 further has a chain slack take-up assembly having a pivotal take-up idler arm 20 for chain slack take-up, which is pivotably connected to the chain guide end of the feed arm 11.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: ZIKE LLC.Inventors: Nathan Anthony Scolari, George Robert Reiter

Patent number: 8128111Abstract: An improved two wheeled reciprocating pedal driven scooter has a frame, front steering wheel, rear drive wheel, and rear wheel drive mechanism. The drive mechanism has two reciprocating foot pedals straddling the frame and extending to a forward hinge attachment location on the frame. The hinge location is at or above a drive axle. Each foot pedal has a short portion and an intersecting long portion forming a bend. The bend angle is 90 degrees or greater and is located at or below the frame. The attachment location of the foot pedal to the drive mechanism is at or near the bend. When the long portion of one foot pedal is at the bottom of the foot pedal stroke it is substantially horizontal, while the long portion of the other pedal is at the top of the stroke and is inclined to a maximum stroke angle of less than 35 degrees.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2010Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Zike, LLCInventors: Nathan Anthony Scolari, Daniel Robert Cabral, Geoffrey Michael Bergmark
