  • Patent number: 7206557
Abstract: A direct conversion transmitter comprising two local oscillators, an in-phase and quadrature modulating signal and in-phase and quadrature modulators, adds a leakage detector and corrective algorithm with one or more digital to analog converters to generate a corrective signal. The corrective signal corrects for, minimizes, and suppresses local oscillator carrier leakage into the transmitted signal. In accordance with the invention, direct up transmitter carrier leakage is automatically measured at regular intervals during the transmit cycle. A DC correction, or a correction waveform as a function of time, is input to both the “in-phase” and “quadrature” modulators at the baseband input. The two correction signals are tuned according to a minimization algorithm to achieve the lowest possible carrier component in the spectral output of the transmitter at its ambient operating conditions and present power output level.

  • Publication number: 20070026839
Abstract: A wireless receiver is provided that includes a component and a power control logic 80. The component is operable to receive a wireless signal and process the wireless signal in at least one of a first mode and a second mode. The first mode uses less power than the second mode. The power control logic 80 is operable based on a characteristic of the wireless signal to promote processing the wireless signal by the component in the at least one of the first and second modes. A method for a wireless receiver to process the wireless signal to reduce power consumption is also provided. The method includes determining a characteristic of the wireless signal, and selecting one of a first and second modes in which to process the signal based on the characteristic of the wireless signal.

  • Publication number: 20050245199
Abstract: A wireless transceiver 10 is provided that includes a configurable analog component 14 and a controller portion 18. The configurable analog component 14 is operable to receive an input radio frequency signal and to transmit the output radio frequency signal. The controller portion 18 is operable to promote adjustment of a bandwidth of the configurable analog component 14 from at least a first bandwidth to a second bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20050180375
Abstract: A system and method for channelization and data multiplexing in ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless communication system is described. The spectrum allocated for UWB in a multi-band OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplex) system is subdivided into various bands. A set of time frequency codes (TFC's) is defined, wherein each code specifies one of a plurality of unique band versus time sequences for a particular band group, for sequential data symbols of a given piconet. The separation of data words from multiple devices or multiple simultaneously operating piconets (SOP's) is provided by a combination of FDMA and TFC's. The combination of FDMA and TFC's provides a simplified interface between the MAC and PHY.

  • Publication number: 20050088254
Abstract: A system includes a filter and a tuner formed on an integrated circuit. The filter receives an input signal comprising a first number of channels and communicates an intermediate output signal comprising a second number of channels less than the first number of channels. The tuner is coupled to the filter and receives the intermediate output signal and communicates an output signal comprising a third number of channels less than the second number of channels.

  • Patent number: 6101371
Abstract: An article comprising a micro-machined, passively self-assembling inductor is disclosed. The inductor is fabricated using MEMS technology and advantageously utilizes materials compatible with CMOS such that inductor is monolithically integrable with a CMOS chip. The inductor includes passive self-assembly means by which the inductor loop is moved away from an underlying substrate, typically silicon, in the final steps of inductor assembly. Such passive self-assembly does not require separate actuation or monitoring steps.
