Publication number: 20180257454Abstract: Agricultural machines such as sprayers can be improved by providing a control system configured to adjust an engine cooling package fan with variable speeds, to thereby minimize parasitic losses, based on progress of the HVAC system for attaining a desired temperature in the operator cab. In one aspect, as a gap between actual and desired temperatures (temperature differential) in the cab minimizes, the cooling package fan can be variably adjusted to increase or decrease in speed, depending on heating or cooling occurring in the cab, respectively. However, if a temperature of an area in the engine compartment reaches a predetermined threshold, such variable speed control can cease, and the cooling package fan can instead be controlled to cool the area.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2017Publication date: September 13, 2018Inventor: Nathan Brooks

Publication number: 20180260082Abstract: A fault detection system for an agricultural machine is configured to display to an operator a virtual layout of fuses and/or relays for the machine in an arrangement corresponding to an actual/physical layout of the fuses and/or relays on the machine. The system can monitor for fault conditions of the fuses and/or relays, and display a location of a fuse or relay corresponding to a physical location of where the faulty fuse or relay can be found from among other fuses and/or relays. A faulty fuse and/or relay can be highlighted, such as by changing a color of the fuse and/or relay, for rapid identification. The system can also display a list providing descriptions for the fuses and/or relays to assist with fault resolution.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2017Publication date: September 13, 2018Inventor: Nathan Brooks

Patent number: 10028498Abstract: A machine controller may communicate with a joystick (or grip) and/or a touchscreen Human Machine Interface (HMI) (or other input module) on first data communication bus or path, and communicate with machine specific control modules and/or a field computer on a second data communication bus or path. The machine controller may receive operator commands from the joystick or other input module and instruct the corresponding machine specific control module accordingly. Concurrently, the field computer may be used by the operator to monitor and/or control a different function of the machine via a different machine specific control module. As a result, the operator may keep his hand on the joystick or other input module while monitoring a different function.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2015Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Nathan Brooks, Roy A. Patent number: 9550527Abstract: A “dead-band” range may be provided for automatically selecting between two-wheel and four-wheel steering for an agricultural machine. When the machine is being steered minimally within a first band (within the dead-band range), such as in a straightaway path, two-wheel steering may be automatically selected. However, when the machine is being increasingly steered thereby reaching a second band (beyond the dead-band range), four-wheel steering may be automatically selected. An operator may monitor the state of the machine steering via a touchscreen Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the cabin. The operator may also adjust the dead-band range by increasing or decreasing sensitivity via the HMI.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2015Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventor: Nathan Brooks
