  • Publication number: 20250018954
Abstract: Techniques for estimating a ground profile, including a ground height (e.g., elevation) and ground roll, for an environment associated with a vehicle are described herein. Sensor data associated with a vehicle may be used to determine sensor data points associated with a path of the vehicle. Based on an upper bound slope and lower bound slope, such as a maximum and/or minimum rate of ground roll change, a region (e.g., search window) may be determined. Based on the region, a subset of sensor data points included in the region may be determined. The subset of sensor data points may be used to determine a representative height and representative roll. In some instances, the representative height and representative roll may be determined using a Hough transform and the subset of sensor data points. A ground profile may be determined based on the representative height and representative roll.

Abstract: Techniques for estimating a ground profile for an environment associated with a vehicle are described herein. Sensor data associated with a vehicle may be used to determine sensor data points associated with a path of the vehicle. Using a first metric and a second metric, such as a maximum slope and minimum slope based on the position of the vehicle and/or a previously-determined ground point, a region (e.g., search window) may be determined, and based on the region, a subset of sensor data points included in the region. The subset of sensor data points may be used to determine a ground point. In some instances, the ground point may be determined based on an average height of the sensor data points. A ground profile may be determined that at least partially includes the ground point.

  • Patent number: 12036129
Abstract: Deployable Euler Spiral Connectors (DESCs) are introduced as compliant deployable flexures that can span gaps between segments in a mechanism and then lay flat when under strain in a stowed position. This paper presents models of Euler spiral beams combined in series and parallel that can be used to design compact compliant mechanisms. Constraints on the flexure parameters of DESCs are also presented. Analytic models developed for the force-deflection behavior and stress were compared to finite element analysis and experimental data. A spinal implant and a linear ratcheting system are presented as illustrative applications of DESCs.

  • Publication number: 20240016605
Abstract: Numerous delivery devices for delivery of a stented prosthesis, such as a stented prosthetic heart valve. Various delivery devices include a capsule that is advanced proximally to retain the stented prosthesis, which is secured over an inner shaft assembly of the delivery device. The delivery device further includes a bumper or bumper assembly to provide a smooth transition of the capsule over the stented prosthesis. In some alternate disclosed embodiments, the bumper further serves to connect various elements of the inner shaft assembly. Additional embodiments include a bumper assembly arranged and configured to longitudinally expand and contract to substantially fill any open space as the capsule is retracted from the stented prosthesis, which prevents kinking in the capsule. Additional embodiments include proximal and/or distal bumpers for temporarily covering and smoothing the ends of the stented prosthesis as part of a delivery device that does not include a capsule.

  • Patent number: 11598597
Abstract: A firearm with dual-acting safety mechanism includes a hammer, sear operable to hold the hammer in a cocked position, and trigger mechanism including a trigger and trigger bar which collectively operates to rotate the sear to release the hammer. The safety mechanism includes a safety mode selector or actuator cooperating with a secondary safety link. In one arrangement, linearly moving the selector actuates and rotates the safety link which simultaneously both blocks the hammer and displaces the trigger bar such that the sear can no longer be actuated via a trigger pull.

  • Patent number: 11493293
Abstract: A magazine for a firearm comprises a tubular magazine body defining a cavity for holding cartridges, a spring, and a follower biased by the spring for dispensing cartridges from the magazine. A spring base disposed on the body includes a cantilevered resiliently deformable spring arm supporting the spring in one embodiment. The base is held in place by the floor plate. Sliding the floor plate onto the magazine body engages an inclined ramp of the floor plate with spring arm which automatically moves the spring arm from an undeflected to deflected position. When the floor plate is fully coupled to the magazine tube such that the spring arm clears the ramp, the spring arm snaps back to the undeflected position and locks the floor plate in place on the tubular body via interlocked retention features without use of tools.

  • Patent number: 11205522
Abstract: An apparatus and method to remotely perform automated piping and piping attachment weld inspections. The apparatus has two spaced positioning arms that rotate out from one side of a frame structure and a kicker arm that rotates out from an opposite side of the frame structure at a location between the two positioning arms. The positioning arms and the kicker arm wedge the frame structure between an object to be scanned and an opposing structure. A scanning subassembly supported on the frame structure is configured to pivot and move in an appropriate direction and to pilot a transducer around the surface of the object to be scanned.

  • Patent number: 10921075
Abstract: A magazine for a firearm such as long guns comprises a housing defining a cavity for holding a double staggered stack of cartridges and spring-biased tiltable follower for dispensing the cartridges into the action of the firearm. Features include an accordion type flat spring specially configured to fold into a flat condition in which adjacent bends of the spring are arranged side-by-side to reduce the folded height of the spring. The follower includes bosses slideable in mating vertical housing slots to guide the follower upward/downward motion and allow front to rear tilting action. A coupling mechanism includes a plurality of interlocking mounting teeth forming a selectively interlocked arrangement for detachably assembling the floor plate to magazine housing. A resilient snap fit tab on the floor plate secures the coupling. The magazine is longitudinally elongated and configured to fit flushly with the underside of the firearm when mounted.
