  • Patent number: 10186029
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to characterizing objects or other items, which as may be implemented in a machine-vision type approach. As may be implemented with one or more embodiments, some of which may involve a Fourier transform analysis, object regions (one or more objects) are identified in image data depicting several objects, and the size of each object-region is identified. Respective ratios of the size of each object-region to the size of each of the other object regions are determined, and object regions having a higher total number of ratios that round to one (relative to the other object regions) are identified. An expected (e.g., average) individual object size is determined based on the sizes of the identified object regions, and a total number of the objects in the image is determined based on the expected individual object size and the sizes of the object regions.

  • Publication number: 20140357996
Abstract: An ultrasound system includes an ultrasound transducer adapted to obtain a dynamic series of echo signals of a subject tissue at different deformation states, and an image processor for generating and displaying ultrasound images of the tissue. The processor is configured to generate dynamic images that correspond to the dynamic series of echo signals, identify a plurality of pixels within a region of interest (ROI) of a first of the generated images, evaluate local tissue mechanical behavior by tracking the displacement, deformation, and echo intensity of the identified plurality of pixels from the first image to subsequent images based on groups of pixels that correspond to each of the identified plurality of pixels, determine tissue functionality in the subject at the tracked pixel locations, and display the tissue functionality in dynamic images that corresponds to the tracked pixel locations.

  • Patent number: 8769233
Abstract: In an embodiment, a plurality of stack depths of a stack are sampled from all stack depths of the stack. An average of the plurality of stack depths is calculated. If a number of the plurality of stack depths is greater than a maximum sample threshold and the average of the plurality of stack depths is greater than or equal to a current depth of the stack, then pages are deallocated from the stack that are above the average of the plurality of stack depths. If the number of the plurality of stack depths is greater than the maximum sample threshold and the average of the plurality of stack depths is less than the current depth of the stack, then pages are deallocated from the stack that are above the current depth of the stack.

  • Patent number: 8447921
Abstract: A method for maintaining vital product data (VPD) contained in an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) on a field replaceable unit (FRU) of a computer system that has a cache. The method includes maintaining a copy of the VPD in the cache, retrieving the copy of the VPD from the cache upon receiving a read request of the VPD, and, upon receiving a write request to write data to the VPD, writing the data to the copy of the VPD, determining whether the VPD in the EEPROM is in synchronization with the copy of the VPD in the cache, and, if the VPD and the copy of the VPD are in synchronization, writing the data to the EEPROM.
