    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for multicasting traffic using multi-connectivity. A wireless network can send a downlink (DL) packet, which follows one path from a core network entity to a user equipment (UE) under current standards, to multiple base stations (BSs) and from each of the base stations to a UE. The UE receives the DL packet from whichever BS first delivers the DL packet, and then the UE sends a report reporting receipt of the DL packet back to all of the BSs. BSs that receive a report indicating the UE received the packet can drop the packet, even if they have not yet successfully delivered the packet. The same procedure can be used for an UL packet, which can be sent from a UE to multiple BSs, and from the BSs to a core network entity.

The relay UE performs a Radio Resource Control (RRC) re-establishment procedure with the first base station or a second base station based on a cell search result.     Abstract: A method of connection establishment through a relay UE for a remote UE is proposed. The remote and relay UEs first perform discovery and establish a PC5 radio resource control (PC5-RRC) connection. Upon receiving a request from the remote UE, the relay UE and a serving gNB perform a relaying procedure for establishment of the remote UE's signalling radio bearer 1 (SRB1). The relay UE configures PC5 RLC channels for relaying of SRB1 towards the remote UE. The remote UE then enters an RRC_CONNECTED state. The remote UE and gNB establish security. The gNB configures additional data radio bearers (DRBs) for relaying. The relay UE configures PC5 RLC channels for relaying of the additional DRBs towards the remote UE. The DRBs can then be used for exchange of data between the remote UE and the gNB.

In novel aspect, the sidelink adaptation protocol (SAP) layer inserts SAP header including the adaptation layer address (ALA) before routing the packet data to the next hop. In other embodiments, the SAP layer includes a sequence number (SN). In one embodiment, the SN number in the SAP layer is the same as the PDCP SN number. In another embodiment, the SAP layer assigns SN number. In other embodiments, the SAP layer performs bearer mapping between an ingress logical channel and an egress logical channel at one or more intermediate nodes. In one embodiment, the bearer mapping is based on the QoS information or is based on a fixed logical channel configuration.
