  • Publication number: 20230416592
Abstract: Geopolymer precursor compositions are presented that are useful for cementing a subterranean well, among other uses. The precursor compositions are dry mixtures that have an aluminosilicate source and an activator. The activator is an alkalinity source that is safe to store, transport, and blend with an aluminosilicate source. The activator may be a hydroxide-free activator. A geopolymer slurry is formed by adding water to the dry geopolymer precursor compositions. Such slurries have suitable characteristics for use in cementing applications that use pumpable mixtures.

  • Publication number: 20070100335
Abstract: A cervical biopsy instrument that includes a central shaft defining a longitudinal axis and a stop extending laterally from the shaft. The stop typically is formed in substantially the shape of a circle in a plane disposed at substantially right angles to the central axis of the shaft. The instrument also includes an electrode extending from an endocervical portion of the shaft to the stop. The stop may be formed in the shape of a complete circle, or a partial circle. Any free ends are configured to be rounded and extend inwardly toward the shaft or away from the endocervical portion to prevent the presentation of sharp edges or the like which could be caught on irregularities of the uterine cervix. The stop may be affixed to the central shaft along a tangent, or ends of the stop may be affixed to the central shaft. In another embodiment, the stop encircles or partially encircles the shaft, with the shaft extending substantially through the center of the circle.

  • Publication number: 20050033194
Abstract: A method and apparatus which improves the removal of cells from a cell sampling collection device used for uterine cervical pathology screening which may be inserted into or be an integral part of the collection vial containing preservative solution. The device may be constructed of a variety of materials, such as plastic, so long as the surface is smooth to minimize cell adhesion. The distal end of the device contains an aperture or slots in the base which allows the brush or other collecting device to be inserted into the preservative liquid through the slot and the sample to be removed by rubbing the brush against the edges of the slot. The proximal end of the device may have a mechanism for anchoring or seating it in the vial so it doesn't move when the brush or other collection device is rubbed against the slot to remove cells. The device may be anchored to the vial by screwing, snapping or press fitting it against the rim or sidewalls of the vial.

  • Patent number: 4351088
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing the torso portion of the skin from the carcass of an animal, such as a hog, includes an overhead support from which a carcass is suspended during the skin removing operation. The skin is first removed from the hind quarters of the carcass and then a cut is made in the skin of the torso completely around the carcass just rearwardly of the fore limbs. A flap forming blade makes a longitudinal cut in the carcass and the longitudinal edge of the skin defined by the longitudinal cut is gripped by revolvable toothed cylinders carried by a revolvable drum to form a flap which is wound about the toothed cylinder. A carcass engaging device holds the carcass against the drum during the flap forming operation. A flexible pressurized movable blade positioned adjacent the drum progressively cuts the skin from the carcass as the drum is revolved.
