Publication number: 20240100238Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for detecting full waste canister and/or fluid flow path blockage conditions are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods and apparatuses for controlling a pump. In some embodiments, flow of fluid can be restricted in a portion of the fluid flow path. A controller can be configured to compare a difference in pressure values upstream and downstream of a fluid flow restrictor to a pressure difference threshold, and determine based on the comparison whether to activate an alarm indicating the full waste canister condition or the fluid flow path blockage condition. The controller can be additionally or alternatively configured to determine a fluid flow using a flow meter, open a selectable valve in response to a comparison of the fluid flow with a fluid flow threshold, determine fluid flow after opening the valve, and determine based on the fluid flow after opening the valve whether to activate the alarm.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Benjamin Gordon, Jake Turner, Nathan Wrench, Edward Vernon-Harcourt, David Harris

Patent number: 10183042Abstract: An apparatus may allow separating and collecting a fraction of a sample. The apparatus, when used with a centrifuge, allows for the creation of at least three fractions in the apparatus. It also provides for a new method of extracting the buffy coat phase from a whole blood sample and mesenchymal stem cells from bone reaming material. A buoy system that may include a first buoy portion and a second buoy member operably interconnected may be used to form at least three fractions from a sample during a substantially single centrifugation process. Therefore, the separation of various fractions may be substantially quick and efficient.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2014Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: Biomet Manufacturing, LLCInventors: Michael D. Leach, Joel C. Higgins, Matthew Swift, Nathan Gordon

Publication number: 20180350015Abstract: In some embodiments, the disclosed subject matter involves metrics collection and analysis to quantify customer engagement with an objective score to measure customer engagement in an c-learning system. Embodiments may generate a single engagement score as a one-number summary of e-learning product usage by a customer The one number summary may be generated as a normalized weighted sum of individual metrics scores. An embodiment may use activation, login, view, or other usage rates as part of the weighted sum. The weighted sum for a product customer may be normalized as compared to other customers for the same or similar product, where the other customer may be similar in size and/or industry to the target customer. An embodiment may use metrics relating to skills attained and applied as a skill assessment score. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2017Publication date: December 6, 2018Inventors: Nathan Gordon, Coleman Patrick King, III, Zhaoying Han
