    Abstract: A system for stimulating a nerve includes a control module and a cuff lead with electrodes. The control module includes stimulation circuitry, a memory, and a processor configured to direct the stimulation circuitry to deliver a macroburst to the cuff lead for stimulation using the electrodes. The macroburst includes multiple microbursts. Each microburst includes pulses arranged in a temporal sequence. Each pulse has a pulse width of no more than 100 ?s and a total amplitude of no more than 100 ?A. A system for mapping a nerve can include a processor for directing the control module to deliver stimulation pulses according to at least one nerve mapping paradigm that includes a temporal sequence of pulses; associating stimulation effects with the electrodes of the cuff lead based on the temporal sequence; and mapping the electrodes to one or more axons, fascicles, nerve fibers, tracts of the nerve, or peripheral organs.

    Abstract: DC offset compensation is provided to equate the DC values of the inputs to sense amp circuitry used to sense tissue signals in a stimulator device. When a DC offset is present at the inputs to the sense amp circuitry, the stimulation circuitry is controlled to remove this DC offset, which can occur in different ways. In one example, charge imbalanced pulses are provided to the inputs of the sense amp circuitry, the stimulation electrodes, or to other electrodes. Control of the stimulation circuitry can occur using a DC offset compensation algorithm programmed into control circuitry of the stimulator device. Using the algorithm, measurements indicative of the DC offset are used to determine charge imbalanced pulses, with the measurements being made by shorting the inputs together, and then releasing the input to reestablish the DC offset.

A cuff lead can include a slot portion disposed along a first edge of a cuff body, the slot portion defining an opening, and a tab disposed along a second edge of the cuff body for securing the cuff lead to a nerve. A cuff lead can include two cuff body pieces engaging each other to form a hinge for moving between an open position for receiving a nerve and closed position. A cuff lead can include a tunnel extending through a cuff body and an elongate body for insertion through the tunnel.

    Abstract: A stimulation system includes a stimulation generation system to provide stimulation; an evoked signal sensing system to receive an evoked signal from the tissue in response to the stimulation; and a processing system. The evoked signal sensing system includes a sense amplifier circuit and a DC offset compensation circuit configured to provide DC offset compensation at an input of the sense amplified circuit. The processing system is configured to, during the providing of the stimulation, direct the DC offset compensation circuit to provide, DC offset compensation at a first magnitude; and, after the providing of the stimulation and during a sensing window for the evoked signal, either a) direct the DC offset compensation circuit to provide DC offset compensation at a second magnitude that is no more than one-third of the first magnitude or b) direct the DC offset compensation circuit to provide no DC offset compensation.
