  • Publication number: 20070109959
Abstract: An apparatus for communicating data is provided that includes a cell site element associated with a base transceiver station and comprising a compression module that is operable to receive a plurality of bits associated with a communications flow, to inspect the bits, to determine whether one or more samples included in the flow should be suppressed, and to compress the samples. The cell site element is coupled to a back-up device that is operable to assume responsibility for active flows in a case where a primary device fails. Data is exchanged between the primary device and the back-up device, the data guiding the back-up device in how to process the active flows.

  • Publication number: 20050008012
Abstract: Performing compression includes receiving at a compressor a flow comprising packets, where each packet has a packet identifier. The packet identifiers are associated with a predetermined increment, but any change in the predetermined increment is ignored. The packets are compressed, and the flow is transmitted to a decompressor.

  • Patent number: 6608714
Abstract: A thermal actuator includes a first arm having a proximal end and a distal end, a second arm, parallel to the first arm, having a proximal end and a distal end, and a third arm arranged between and parallel to the first and second arms, the third arm having a proximal end and a distal end. The third arm has at least one portion at the distal end of the third arm having a width that is substantially larger than a width of the first arm and a width of the second arm. The distal ends of the first, second and third arms are coupled together to form a distal end of the thermal actuator, and the first, second and third arms preferably are made of a single material. A number of thermal actuators can be arranged in an array. The thermal actuator or array of thermal actuators can be coupled to an applicator.

  • Patent number: 6137268
Abstract: A battery charging system in which current is averaged over a long time period (seconds) to determine the maximum average charging rate. When the integral of charging current over this long period reaches the programmed maximum charge value for one period, current is simply cut off for the remainder of the fixed long period.
