  • Publication number: 20140032659
Abstract: A system and method facilitates communications between users of multiple social networks by combining social graphs from the social networks. During operation, a user requests the system to search for particular parameters. The system determines a set of matching user profiles and provides profile information and connection options for each of the matching user profiles. The profile information provided to the user varies depending on the degree of connection to the profile and the type of connection. Similarly, the system varies the connection options provided based on the degree of connection and the network membership of the profile. Available connection options may include sending a direct message, requesting an introduction, saving the profile for later viewing, and sending a limited message.

  • Patent number: 8577334
Abstract: A method of providing privileged access to an electronic device is provided. The method comprises receiving a first request for an activation code, where the first request comprises an identifier of the electronic device. An activation expiration time is determined by a computer system. An activation code is determined based on the identifier of the electronic device, and the activation code is transmitted. A second request for a token to unlock privileged access to the electronic device is received, where the second request comprises the activation code and the identifier of the electronic device. When the activation code received in the second request correlates with the identifier of the electronic device provided in the second request and when the second request is received before the activation expiration time, the token to unlock privileged access to the electronic device is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 8572561
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for Multiple Java ME MIDlet Execution in Single-Instance CLDC JVM. A subMIDlet manager may be an instance of the MIDlet class and may be capable of managing the lifecycles of component subMIDlets. SubMIDlets may contain the functionality of a MIDlet and may be configured to operate within a subMIDlet manager in a JVM and not to operate in a JVM without a subMIDlet manager. An exemplary method includes executing a single JVM that is capable of executing a single MIDlet at a time and using the JVM to execute a subMIDlet manager. Such a JVM may be present on a MIDP device. The subMIDlet manager may coordinate the activities of multiple subMIDlets executing simultaneously while appearing to the JVM as a single MIDlet.

  • Patent number: 8447834
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for a computer system for downloading an application from a computing client onto a mobile information device through wireless telecommunications. An application is located from a multitude of resources available on the World Wide Web through the Internet. After an application is selected from a particular resource, it is uploaded onto the computing client. A web server receives this uploaded application by means of the Internet. Another server is used as an intermediate communications device to receive notification from the web server of the available uploaded application. This intermediate communications server notifies the mobile device by way of wireless telecommunications of a pending application that is ready for downloading onto the mobile device. The mobile device user downloads the application, which is also accomplished via wireless telecommunications.

  • Patent number: 8335495
Abstract: The graphical display capability and the digital data communication capability of wireless mobile handsets are used to present a customized directory of a called enterprise on the display screen of the mobile handset to allow the caller to identify their desired call destination by name. A directory database stores directory information for each call destination of the enterprise. An incoming call to an enterprise IVR unit causes a directory manager to generate a request for user data which is forwarded to the mobile handset via a gateway. The mobile handset opens a data connection and forwards the user data to the directory manager. The directory manager evaluates at least one access rule in response to the user data to select relevant directory information from the directory database, and the directory manager forwards the relevant directory information to the mobile handset for display. Then the user of the mobile handset selects a call destination based on the displayed directory information.

  • Patent number: 8258892
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for high-speed bandpass serial data communication. A driver receives at least one data signal and generates a bandpass data signal for transmission through a bandpass waveguide interconnect. The bandpass data signal is launched into the bandpass waveguide interconnect using a first adaptor and extracted therefrom after transmission using a second adaptor. A receiver connected to the second adaptor recovers the at least one data signal from the extracted bandpass data signal. A dispersion compensation circuit receives one of the at least one data signal and the bandpass data signal and information indicative of a phase response of the bandpass waveguide interconnect and dispersion compensates the one of the at least one data signal and the bandpass data signal by compensating the phase response of the bandpass waveguide interconnect.

  • Patent number: 8204498
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable media are provided for automatically evaluating the download of content retrieved from a content catalog to one or more mobile communications devices. The specific mobile communications devices and content that will be downloaded to the mobile communications devices may be identified by way of a web interface. This download information may be sent to an automatic test script, executed on a computing device that instructs various components throughout the download process. A remote device may receive instructions and download information from the automatic test script to initiate the download process, such that the content, retrieved from a wireless communications network, may be downloaded to the identified mobile communications device. After the download process has completed, a report that includes an indication of download results may then be generated and stored in a memory of the computing device.
