Patent number: 11971914Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) method includes a processor receiving, from a human user, a query on an external database; performing transformations on the query to produce a refined query; generating an embedding of the refined query; and generating a system prompt and a user prompt based on the refined query. The processor then applies the embedding to a vector database by executing a similarity routine to identify discrete vectors in the vector database most similar to the embedding, and collects the most similar vectors for application to a large language model. Next, the processor applies the most similar vectors, the refined query, and the system and user prompts to a large language model to generate a comprehensive response to the query. The response includes a text document that is generated by execution of the large language model.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2023Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Cure A1, LLCInventors: Jared Watson, Nathan Watson

Patent number: 11868301Abstract: A computer system includes symmetrical sets of motherboard serial channels which couple processor devices on a motherboard with a common serial link interface. The common serial link interface can be coupled with an endpoint device to establish symmetrical serial links between the endpoint device and the processor devices. The computer system can include a riser card which can be coupled with the serial link interface. The riser card can include an endpoint device interface and serial channels which can couple the processor devices with the endpoint device via symmetrical limited selections of the motherboard serial channels. The riser can include additional interfaces which can couple the processor devices with additional expansion devices.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2015Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Darin Lee Frink, Michael Jon Moen, Christopher Nathan Watson

Patent number: 11467732Abstract: A data storage system includes multiple head nodes and multiple data storage sleds mounted in a rack. For a particular volume or volume partition one of the head nodes is designated as a primary head node for the volume or volume partition. The primary head node is configured to store data for the volume in a data storage of the primary head node and cause the data to be replicated to a secondary head node. The primary head node is also configured to cause the data for the volume to be stored in a plurality of respective mass storage devices each in different ones of the plurality of data storage sleds of the data storage system.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Norbert P. Kusters, Nachiappan Arumugam, Christopher Nathan Watson, Marc John Brooker, David R. Richardson, Danny Wei, John Luther Guthrie, II

Patent number: 11444641Abstract: A data storage system includes multiple head nodes and data storage sleds. The data storage sleds include multiple mass storage devices and a sled controller. Respective ones of the head nodes are configured to obtain credentials for accessing particular portions of the mass storage devices of the data storage sleds. A sled controller of a data storage sled determines whether a head node attempting to perform a write on a mass storage device of a data storage sled that includes the sled controller is presenting with the write request a valid credential for accessing the mass storage devices of the data storage sled. If the credentials are valid, the sled controller causes the write to be performed and if the credentials are invalid, the sled controller returns a message to the head node indicating that it has been fenced off from the mass storage device.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: September 13, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Norbert P. Kusters, Nachiappan Arumugam, Christopher Nathan Watson, Marc John Brooker, David R. Richardson, Danny Wei, John Luther Guthrie, II, Leah Shalev

Patent number: 11438411Abstract: A data storage system includes a rack, multiple head nodes, multiple data storage sleds, and at least two networking devices. The at least two network devices are configured to implement at least two redundant networks within the data storage system. Also, each of the head nodes is assigned at least two network addresses for communication with the data storage sleds of the data storage system via the at least two networking devices. The data storage sleds each include multiple mass storage devices and a sled controller that is configured to couple with the at least two network switches. IO In some embodiments, the data storage system further includes redundant power systems within a rack in which the head nodes, the data storage sleds, and the at least two networking devices are mounted.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2020Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Norbert P. Patent number: 11347413Abstract: An opportunistic storage service, or system, identifies currently unused storage capacity on a plurality of physical storage components of computing devices dispersed throughout a provider network. In some embodiments, the currently unused storage capacity is provisioned as primary storage, but is not currently being used to store primary storage data. The opportunistic storage service advertises at least a portion of the currently unused storage capacity as opportunistic storage capacity and provisions the opportunistic storage capacity subject to revocation if additional storage capacity of the physical storage components is needed to store primary storage data to fulfill a primary storage commitment.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2020Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Nathan Watson, Leonid Baryudin, Tyler Huston Doornenbal, Truong Nguyen, Phillip Peterson, Wenzhou Chen, Christopher J. Patent number: 10521135Abstract: A data storage system includes a head node and mass storage devices. The head node is configured to flush data stored in a storage of the head node, based at least in part on one or more triggers being met, from the storage of the head node to a set of the mass storage devices of the data storage system. The flushed data is written to a segment of free storage space across the set of the mass storage devices allocated for the given data flush operation. In some embodiments, a head node may flush both current version data and point-in-time version data to the set of mass storage devices. Also, the data storage system maintains an index that indicates storage locations of data for particular portions of a volume before and after the data is flushed to the set of mass storage devices.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2017Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Norbert Paul Kusters, Nachiappan Arumugam, Andre Podnozov, Shobha Agrawal, Shreyas Ramalingam, Danny Wei, David R.
