Abstract: A municipal solid waste or recycling facility item of interest identification, collection, and remediation system, controller, and computer program provide identification, collection, and remediation for items of interest included in waste at a municipal solid waste or recycling facility. The one or more controllers monitor data streams from sensors and/or image stream(s) from image capturing device(s) deposited on one or more mobile autonomous units for recyclable articles or other items of interest that are important for the operation of waste disposal sites. The controllers recognize items within the image stream(s), based on the library, an image of an item of interest included in the waste materials. The one or more controllers generate instructions for the autonomous mobile units for the identification, collection, and remediation of items of interest.
