Abstract: Vehicles typically include a communication system for communicating with and controlling devices and sensors installed in the vehicle. The vehicle may include a radio head unit. The head unit may provide functionality for controlling other devices and sensors installed in the vehicle. Devices and sensors installed in a vehicle may operate using incompatible communication protocols. An interface may be provided that detects the communication protocol used by a device/sensor and locates an information exchange protocol. The information exchange protocol may be executed by the interface. The information protocol may translate one communication protocol into another communication protocol. Translating communication protocols may allow two (or more) otherwise incompatible devices/sensors to work together and be integrated into a vehicle.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to apparatus and methods for unattended occupant protection system (UOPS) safety systems for passenger vehicles. The UOPS safety system may include a UOPS module. The module may be integrated with a vehicle data bus of the passenger vehicle. The module may be in communication with a plurality of UOPS sensors. The module may launch an equalization mode in response to determining, via the UOPS sensors, the presence of an unattended occupant in the passenger vehicle with a high or rising ambient temperature. The equalization mode may stabilize the ambient temperature of the passenger vehicle.

Abstract: An aftermarket vehicle head unit integration cartridge for use with an aftermarket head unit is provided. The aftermarket head unit preferably includes a dedicated slot for insertion of the cartridge. The cartridge preferably supports communication between a plurality of electronic components in the aftermarket head unit and a plurality of electronic components in the vehicle. The plurality of electronic components in the aftermarket head unit may include, for example, an audio processing system, a video processing system, an analog I/O and/or a digital I/O. and/or a plurality of electronic components. The plurality of electronic components in the vehicle may include an audio system, an analog I/O, a digital I/O/databus, and/or a steering wheel control unit. The cartridge may include a flashable memory for use in reconfiguring the cartridge. The cartridge may be configured to capture and condition the signals from at least one of the plurality of the vehicle-based electronic components.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for processing an audio signal. The apparatus may include a digital signal processor (“DSP”) configured to receive an audio signal from a vehicular audio signal line. The audio signal may include a flat component and a compensatory component. The flat component may correspond to the audio signal in a state before combination with the compensatory component. The compensatory component may include an OEM EQ component. The apparatus may include a microprocessor in electronic communication with the DSP. The microprocessor may be configured to retrieve from the memory a restorative signal component. The microprocessor may be configured to instruct the DSP to apply the restorative signal component to the audio signal to reduce the audio signal to the flat component.

Abstract: An engine system comprises a fuel processor that is supplied with air and a fuel reactant stream to produce a hydrogen-containing gas stream. The fuel processor comprises a mounting manifold, a housing, and an internal reaction chamber. The mounting manifold can fluidly interconnect an upstream engine exhaust conduit and a downstream engine exhaust conduit via internal passageways in the manifold, attach and position the fuel processor within the engine exhaust conduit, and fluidly connect external reactant supply conduits to the internal reaction chamber of the fuel processor.

Abstract: A system and method for remote inspection of a liquid filled tank or structure is disclosed. In the system, a remotely operated underwater vehicle is deployed in a liquid filled tank which includes pre-installed location identifier tags. The remotely operated underwater vehicle includes at least one camera for providing a video feed to an operator. The remotely operated underwater vehicle is piloted through tanks to be inspected, scanning tags and transmitting video and sensor data to the operator via operator's computer. The operator inspects and records observations of the video and sensor data to the system. Resulting data is recorded and reports generated.

Abstract: An assembly for joining a generally cylindrical post to at least one structural member wherein the assembly includes four C-shaped members and strips of an elastic material. Two of the C-shaped members encircle the post and form the top half of the assembly. Two of the C-shaped members encircle the post and form the bottom half of the assembly. Embodiments of the invention preferably directly connect to preexisting OEM wiring and hardware. Embodiments of the invention preferably preserve OEM system functionality and allow for integration of additional auxiliary inputs. A digital signal processing module preferably adjusts an output volume to ensure that auxiliary inputs are audible to a vehicle occupant at an appropriate and comfortable volume level. Therefore, vehicle OEM safety chimes or third party navigational commands may be output to a vehicle occupant at an appropriate volume level irrespective of the presence, absence or volume level of other audio signal outputs. Furthermore, the direct connection to preexisting OEM wiring and hardware preferably allows for both easy installation and easy removal of embodiments of the current invention.
