Patent number: 12184258Abstract: An automatic impedance matching system that reads the input impedance of an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) electrical circuit and automatically select appropriate input impedance matching by combining components from a built-in selection of a matching circuitry. A Vector Network Analyzer or similar impedance measuring circuit is connected to the EMAT electrical circuit to measure the input impedance of the EMAT electrical circuit comprising an RF coil, coil cable, and conductive material to be inspected at a given material lift-off, and to relay measurement information to the system processor. The processor uses this information to adjust the overall input impedance of the EMAT electrical circuitry by selecting appropriate components such as capacitors and transformer taps of the built-in selection of the matching circuitry connected between the system pulser/receiver and the coil cable.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2022Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Innerspec Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Borja Lopez Jauregui, Philip Haywood Cox, Nathaniel Quinn Huggins

A Vector Network Analyzer or similar impedance measuring circuit is connected to the EMAT electrical circuit and measures the impedance of the EMAT RF coil, coil cable, and conductive material to be inspected at a given material lift-off, and relies on the information to the system processor. The processor uses this information to adjust the overall impedance by selecting appropriate capacitors and transformer taps on a programmable impedance matching circuit connected between the system pulser/receiver and the RF coil cable. The system can work in either pulse-echo (same transmitter and receiver) or pitch-catch (different transmitter and receiver).Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2022Publication date: May 2, 2024Applicant: Innerspec Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Borja Lopez Jauregui, Philip Haywood Cox, Nathaniel Quinn Huggins

Patent number: 10265177Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are provided for orthopedic implants. The implants may include a base member, such as an acetabular shell or an augment, that is configured to couple with an augment, flange cup, mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment. An implant may include a base member that has at least two projections with a gap between the projections. The gap between the projections allows the implant to fee implanted around another implanted component, such as around a bone screw of an acetabular shell. The implant may include a fixation element, such as a screw or a cement trough, on one or more projections to couple the implant to an implanted acetabular shell. The implant may also include timing marks to facilitate alignment with corresponding marks on another implanted component.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: Smith & Nephew, Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel Quinn, Jeffrey Joel Shea

Publication number: 20120089235Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are provided for orthopedic implants. The implants may include a base member, such as an acetabular shell or an augment, that is configured to couple with an augment, flange cup, mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment. Mounting members include, for example, flanges, blades, hooks, and plates. In some embodiments, the orthopedic attachments may be adjustably positionable about the base member or other attachments, thereby providing modularity for assembling and implanting the device, and various securing and/or locking mechanisms may be used between the components of the implant.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2011Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: Smith & Nephew, Inc.Inventors: Justin Steve Conway, Michael Brian Cooper, Luke Andrew Gibson, David C.
