The control apparatus for vehicle includes: a motor; a battery; friction brake equipment that generates frictional braking force on the vehicle; a temperature sensor that acquires temperature of the friction brake equipment; and a determiner that assesses the temperature of the friction brake equipment acquired by the temperature sensor. The friction brake equipment generates the friction braking force when the battery is fully charged. The freewheeling mode is deactivated in a case where the temperature of the friction brake equipment exceeds a predetermined temperature while the battery is fully charged and the vehicle is in the freewheeling mode.
