  • Patent number: 5505580
Abstract: A refuse handling system having a towable multipurpose trailer and a refuse container which mates with the trailer. The refuse container is designed to receive and hold trash deposited at a remote waste collection site. The trailer has a receiving platform which tilts between a travel position and an inclined loading position. The trailer has a loading subassembly for loading and unloading the refuse container. A power unit is mounted on the trailer to drive the loading subassembly. Once loaded, the trailer transports the container to a central waste disposal site. The refuse container has a refuse discharger for emptying the container. A power transfer coupling is provided between the trailer and the container. This provides one power unit on the trailer hitch functions to both load the refuse container and discharge refuse from the container.

  • Patent number: 5207337
Abstract: A portable crane includes a bracket mounted on a shaft extending upwardly from bearings on the vehicle; a boom extending outwardly from the bracket, a spool rotatable in the bracket carrying a cable, which extends outwardly around a pulley, a hook on the outer end of the cable for supporting a load, and a pair of slack adjusters, one of which receives the shaft for rotating the latter and consequently the boom between use and transport positions, the other slack adjuster engaging the spool for rotating the latter to wind the cable thereon.

  • Patent number: 4976413
Abstract: A relatively simple jack which can be manually operated using a wrench or mechanically operated using a driven socket wrench includes an elongated, upwardly tapering, square cross section casing, with a slot extending longitudinally of one side wall thereof, an endless chain mounted on sprockets at the top and bottom ends of the casing, and an off-the-shelf slack adjuster mounted on an upper side wall of the casing for driving the chain, which is engaged by a pawl having a load support arm extending outwardly through the slot in the front wall of the casing. By rotating the worm gear drive of the slack adjuster, the load support arm can be caused to move vertically in the slot to raise or lower a load.

  • Patent number: 3963259
Abstract: Two spaced and parallel V tracks are secured to the underside of a trailer body and engaging a plurality of rollers having V grooves therein which are mounted upon the main undercarriage frame thus facilitating easy movement and adjustment of the undercarriage relative to the trailer body. Locking means are provided at intervals between the undercarriage and the trailer body so that the two may be locked together in a plurality of selective positions. This construction keeps the undercarriage in true alignment with the trailer frame without the need for side thrust rollers or guides. Furthermore the V tracks maintain engagement with the V rollers due to the weight of the trailer frame.
