  • Publication number: 20210250438
Abstract: A system is described including a mobile device that receives a user request to initiate a phone call to an entity associated with an interactive-voice-response (IVR) interface of an IVR system. The system obtains information about a hierarchy of options associated with the interactive-voice-response system and causes a graphical user interface (GUI) for navigating the hierarchy of options associated with the interactive-voice-response system to be displayed at the mobile device. The system converts user inputs associated with the GUI to inputs recognized by the IVR system and the mobile device outputs, to the entity, the converted inputs and other information required by the entity to perform an operation based on the inputs. In response, the system updates the GUI based on additional information received from the IVR system.

  • Patent number: 9838964
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a user equipment, an RNC, or an application operable in a wireless communications network and methods in which the user equipment can be transitioned into a dormant state controlled by an application driven scheme. According to the application driven scheme, a request is received from an active process at an application server to trigger a wireless device to enter a dormant state, and network traffic information corresponding to a time interval is received from a wireless device. If the network traffic information indicates that the active process is solely responsible for network traffic at a transport layer of the wireless device during the time interval, one or more commands are transmitted to the wireless device such that the wireless device enters the dormant state. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 9285240
Abstract: The present disclosure involves determining charging equipment availability through crowdsourcing. Information is gathered from a plurality of electrically powered vehicle in a geographical region. The charging stations in the geographical region are displayed. A request is received, from a user, to determine occupancy of the electrical charging equipment at one or more of the charging stations during a specified future time window. A calculation is performed based on the information gathered from the electrically powered vehicles. The calculation calculates a probability of the electrical charging equipment at the one or more charging stations being unoccupied during the specified future time window. As a part of the calculation, a weighted probability is assigned to each charging station of being visited by at least one of the electrically powered vehicles. The probability is communicated to the driver.

  • Patent number: 9226234
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for aligning data packet transmission calls to a modem processor 304, 306, 308 of a mobile communication device 300 in order to enable the modem processor 304, 306, 308 to remain in a dormant state for a greater percentage of time. Alignment can be carried out via a function of a library at the applications layer or via an automated method carried out at the network protocol stack where modification of applications via an API provided by the library is not required. For alignment at the applications layer, calls for data packet transmissions can be timed such that periodic calls occur at substantially the same time. For alignment at the network protocol stack, periodic data packet transmission calls can be identified, their periodicity determined, and certain of the calls can be delayed such that periodic calls occur substantially at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20150163701
Abstract: The disclosure provides for managing voice calls in Circuit Switched Fall Back (CSFB) communication devices that are configured to make voice calls using both Circuit Switched (CS) networks and Internet Protocol (IP) over Packet Switched (PS) networks. The device may determine, when registered with a PS network, a signal strength of a CS network at the device. The device may select, based on the signal strength of the CS network, one of the CS network and the PS network for the voice call. The device may establish the voice call using the selected network. The device may receive a user request for initiating a voice call, and initiate a voice call over the selected network automatically using an application corresponding to the selected network. The device may also register with a voice over IP (VoIP) service over the PS network based on the signal strength of the CS network.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for control total transmit power within specific absorption rate (SAR) limits when a multi-SIM wireless device, such as a dual-SIM dual active (DSDA) device, has two active data communications. Embodiment methods include determining a priority of at least one of two active data communications based upon a measured condition of the wireless device, and reducing transmit power on one of the two RF resources supporting one of the two active data communications with lower priority. To identify a higher or lower priority active data communication, characteristics of the communications or data may be used.

  • Patent number: 8514701
Abstract: Aggregating multiple modems in a communication device into a radio-frequency-link aggregation group increases the limited data bandwidth of RF data transmission between a communication device and its operator network. An aggregation controller in the communication device monitors the availability of its modems and selects modems to be used in a radio-frequency-link aggregation group. The aggregation controller also selects an aggregation algorithm. A radio-frequency-link aggregation module in the communication device distributes data to modems in the radio-frequency-link aggregation group in accordance with the aggregation algorithm. A connectivity service in the communication device notifies the operator network of the modems in the radio-frequency-link aggregation group and acknowledges that the operator network agrees to handle transmission from the radio-frequency-link aggregation group.

  • Publication number: 20060205386
Abstract: An approach is provided for communication signaling. Update of shared secret data is initiated with a mobile station. A random value associated with authentication of the mobile station is received. A key is generated based on the updated shared secret data and the random value. Set-up of the key and crypto-sync exchange is then executed with the mobile station. The above process is particularly suitable for deployment in radio communication systems, such as a cellular system.
