  • Publication number: 20230027953
Abstract: Improved network configuration options enable reduced capability (Redcap) devices to coexist with legacy devices. A master information block (MIB) cellBarred indication received in a Synchronization System Block (SSB) by a Redcap device may be ignored by the Redcap device, which may read a System Information Block1 (SIB1) to determine whether to connect to the cell defined by the received SSB. The Redcap device may consider the cell barred if the SIB1 includes a cellBarred indication targeting Redcap devices. The Redcap device may alternately search for an alternative SSB indicated by the SIB1 to determine whether to connect to the cell defined by the alternative SSB. A network node may broadcast Redcap specific and legacy specific SSBs at the same frequency location in a time-multiplexed manner, with each type of device determining cell access based on the received specific SSB. The network node may transmit SSB bursts specifically targeting Redcap devices.

  • Publication number: 20220360974
Abstract: The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods to configure a UE for dual connectivity. In an example, a network node requests the UE to indicate the capability it supports for the dual connectivity. This request can implicitly or explicitly indicate that the UE should report carrier grouping information. In response, this information is sent by the UE, and the network node can configure an MCG and an SCG for the UE based on the reported carrier grouping information.

  • Publication number: 20220353762
Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for support mobility in a wireless network for user equipments (UEs) with varying capabilities. A UE can receive a first system information from a serving base station, where the first system information includes a UE capability condition associated with a neighbor base station, and determine whether a UE capability meets the UE capability condition associated with the neighbor base station. When the UE capability condition is met, the UE can determine whether a first measurement of a first reference signal received from the serving base station and a second measurement of a second reference signal received from the neighbor base station satisfy a threshold condition. When the threshold condition is met, the UE can obtain a second system information from the neighbor base station, indicating the UE has performed handover to the neighbor base station.

  • Publication number: 20220322159
Abstract: Techniques are described for improving service continuity for Multicast and Broadcast Services (MBS) communications during handover. Techniques are included for supporting lossless handover and data forwarding during handover for peer-to-multiple (PTM) MBS transmission. Lossless handover may be achieved in part by the user equipment (UE) providing to the target base station an indication of the next packet of the MBS session to be received following an RRC reconfiguration message, and an indication of any MBS packets provided by the source base station prior to the RRC reconfiguration message that were not properly received by the UE. Data forwarding may be performed from the source base station to the target base station if the MBS session was not configured on the target base station prior to the handover. Data forwarding may be omitted if the MBS session was configured on the target base station prior to the handover.

  • Publication number: 20220322446
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A base station may receive from user equipment device (UE) a random access initiation message, having a characteristic that is configured to indicate to the base station a requested size of a subsequent uplink grant to be provided by the base station for transmission of uplink data by the UE. For example, the characteristic may include a predetermined preamble included in the random access initiation message, such that a requested grant size is indicated by which preamble the UE selects from a plurality of possible preambles. As another example, the characteristic may include which RACH occasion is selected by the UE to transmit the random access initiation message. In response, the base station may allocate resources for use by the UE based on the characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20220322289
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for enhancement of MBMS transmission reliability. A UE may receive PDCP PDUs via a PTM link from a network. The UE may determine to provide feedback regarding receipt of the PDCP PDUs, e.g., based, at least in part, on an occurrence of a triggering event. The triggering event may be configured by the network and may include the UE receiving a request for feedback from the network, the UE determining that at least one PDCP PDU is missing, the UE determining that a number of missing PDCP PDUs exceeds a threshold, and/or the UE determining that a PDCP reordering window is changing based on expiration of a PDCP reordering timer. The UE may transmit feedback associated with receipt of the PDCP PDUs. The feedback may include an indication of missing PDCP PDUs, e.g., such as an indication of a sequence number associated with missing PDCP PDUs.

  • Publication number: 20220312519
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may operate on a dormant bandwidth part (BWP) and a non-dormant BWP of a carrier. The UE identifies a dormant bandwidth part (BWP) and a non-dormant BWP of a carrier corresponding to a primary secondary cell (PSCell) of a secondary cell group (SCG) for dual connectivity (DC), determines that the dormant BWP is configured in an active state and performing one or more actions corresponding to the dormant BWP.

  • Publication number: 20220312416
Abstract: Reporting UL Tx DC sub-carrier location information may include decoding a radio resource control (RRC) message received from a base station. The RRC message may comprise a configuration for dynamically reporting uplink (UL) transmit (Tx) direct current (DC) sub-carrier location information. A change associated with at boast one previous UL Tx DC sub-carrier location may be determined to have occurred, thereby creating at least one new UL Tx DC sub-carrier location. In response to determining the change, a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC CE) may be encoded for transmission to the base station. The MAC CE may include information corresponding to the at least one new UL Tx DC sub-carrier location.

  • Publication number: 20220312298
Abstract: A base station may restrict access by a user equipment (UE). The base station broadcasts access restrictions to one or more UE within a cell coverage area of the base station, wherein the access restrictions include one or more predetermined criteria that must be satisfied for a UE to be allowed to camp on the base station. The base station performs a random access channel (RACH) procedure to allow the UE to camp on the base station when the UE satisfies the one or more predetermined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20220312417
Abstract: Systems and methods provide secondary cell group (SCG) activation and deactivation. A user equipment (UE) in a wireless network may determine bandwidth part (BWP) configurations for a carrier of a primary secondary cell (PSCell) of an SCG for dual connectivity (DC). The UE may move between an SCG activation state and an SCG deactivation state based on the BWP configurations. SCG deactivation modeling may be based on a separate BWP configuration or may be modeled via a separate configuration in radio resource control (RRC) that is applicable to the BWPs in a serving cell.

  • Publication number: 20220312261
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A user equipment device (UE) may transmit to a base station (BS) a first buffer status report (BSR) indicating an amount of uplink data buffered by the UE for transmission to the BS, and may subsequently transmit to the BS a first BSR update message indicating that an additional amount of uplink data has been buffered by the UE subsequent to transmission of the first BSR. The first BSR update message may be transmitted prior to expiration of a timer authorizing transmission of a second BSR following the first BSR. The UE may receive from the BS an uplink grant allocating resources for transmission of at least a portion of the uplink data buffered by the UE. The uplink grant may have a size based on the first BSR and the first BSR update message.

  • Publication number: 20220312531
Abstract: A multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) user equipment (UE) is configured to stay synchronized with a network. The UE registers to a first network for the first SIM, registering to a second network for the second SIM, prior to the UE conducting a high priority activity related to the second SIM, sends, to the first network via a connection associated with the first SIM, a first message comprising an estimated time duration during which the UE conducts the high priority activity related to the second SIM, receives, from the first network, a second message indicating a time period during which the first network will retain a connection context for the connection associated with the first SIM in an RRC Inactive state and when the UE completes the high priority activity, determines the connection context of the first network for the connection associated with the first SIM.
