Publication number: 20230246735Abstract: Methods, systems and devices for wireless communication are described. One example method includes determining, using resources in a wireless network, a schedule of transmissions between the wireless network and one or more user devices, and controlling the transmissions according to the schedule. The resources are distributed between a central unit (CU) and a distributed unit (DU) according to a resource partitioning scheme. The DU is configured to handle a first set of protocol layers of a communication protocol stack implemented in the wireless network according to a layer partitioning scheme and the CU is configured to handle a second set of protocol layers of the communication protocol stack according to the layer partitioning scheme. The first set of protocol layers excludes an upper medium access control (MAC) layer. The second set of protocol layers excludes a physical layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2023Publication date: August 3, 2023Inventors: Shlomo Selim Rakib, Shachar KONS, Naveen RAWAT, Paul LIND

Patent number: 9906332Abstract: A wireless communication system and method are presented for reducing retransmission delays between a UE and an eNB. The UE is configured to establish a communication link to the eNB according to an interface protocol comprising at least a MAC layer and a RLC layer. The RLC layer is notified with at least a PDU data based on input from the MAC layer if no HARQ ACK is received when a maximum retransmission number is reached. A sequence number (SN) of the PDU may then be retransmitted from the RLC layer to the eNB.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2015Date of Patent: February 27, 2018Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Naveen Rawat, Giri Prassad Deivasigamani, Sachin Sane, Sai Sravan Bharadwaj Karri

Patent number: 9491269Abstract: A method for improving uplink transmission rate in a wireless communication device is provided. The wireless communication device can include a first logical layer and a second logical layer. The method can include the wireless communication device decoding, at the first logical layer, a first acknowledgement status of a transmitted data unit. The method can further include the wireless communication device determining, at the first logical layer, a second acknowledgement status of the data unit, which can be an acknowledgement status of the data unit at the second logical layer. The method can additionally include the wireless communication device determining, at the first logical layer, whether to retransmit the data unit based at least in part on both the first acknowledgement status of the data unit and the second acknowledgement status of the data unit.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2014Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sai Sravan Bharadwaj Karri, Naveen Rawat

Patent number: 9479982Abstract: Throttling of transition attempts to connected mode based on user context. A wireless device may camp on a serving cell. A motion state of the wireless device may be monitored. One or more connected mode transition procedures on the serving cell may be attempted. If at least a threshold number of connected mode transition procedures fail on the serving cell while the wireless device is stationary, further connected mode transition attempts may be throttled for up to a certain amount of time. Alternatively, or in addition, the wireless device may bar itself from camping on that cell for up to a certain amount of time. Either or both of throttling connected mode transition attempts or barring cells may also be based on other aspects of user context, such as display state.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2015Date of Patent: October 25, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Bharath Narasimha Rao, Sree Ram Kodali, Srinivas Pasupuleti, Sachin Sane, Aravind Radhakrishnan, Naveen Rawat

Supporting continuation of a data session after performance of a circuit switched fallback procedure
Patent number: 8890921Abstract: A method of supporting continuation of a data session at a wireless communication device after performance of a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) procedure is provided. The method can include establishing a data session while connected to a first network and determining an initiation of a voice call while the data session is ongoing over the first network. The method can further include participating in a CSFB procedure to transition from the first network to a second network in response to initiation of the voice call. After termination of the voice call, the method can additionally include determining that sufficient resources are not available to the wireless communication device on the second network to support a minimum threshold throughput for the data session. The method can also include reverting to the first network in response to determining that sufficient resources are not available to support the minimum threshold throughput.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2012Date of Patent: November 18, 2014Inventors: Naveen Rawat, Mohan Rao Thota -
