Publication number: 20220304733Abstract: Described herein are devices and mechanisms for effective and streamlined ratcheting of handheld medical devices, for example, medical ratcheting screwdrivers. In some embodiments, a ratcheting mechanism is included, which comprises a moveable component, which can comprise a plurality of teeth, an engagement component comprising a plurality of protrusions configured to engage with the teeth, and a toggle collar between the moveable component and the engagement component. In some embodiments the toggle collar comprises stops configured to engage the protrusions and configured to toggle the ratcheting mechanism between modes allowing transmission of torque and force in a first rotational direction, but disallowing it in a second rotational direction and a mode allowing transmission of torque and force in the second rotational direction, but disallowing it in the first rotational direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2022Publication date: September 29, 2022Inventors: Randall Allard, Philippe Pare, Navid Mahpeykar

Patent number: 11432810Abstract: A retractor system may provide access to a surgical site along an access pathway surrounded by tissue. In some embodiments, the retractor system may include three arms and four retractor blades, each having a tissue engagement surface. The second arm may translate along a first retraction direction relative to the first arm. The first retractor blade may be securable to the first arm and the second retractor blade may be securable to the second arm. The third arm may have a connection feature that may be removably securable to a connection interface of the second arm. The third retractor blade may be securable to the third arm and the fourth retractor blade may be securable to a rack between the first and second arms. The third and fourth retractor blades may have cross-sectional shapes oriented generally parallel to the first retraction direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2020Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: Innovasis, Inc.Inventors: Colin Gregersen, Navid Mahpeykar, Jason Glad

Patent number: 10610244Abstract: Systems and methods for joint preparation and fusion are disclosed. The system includes a cutting device having a handle, and rigid blade member. The blade member may include cutting edges on first and second sides, and may be curved in one or more planes. The blade member may be deployed to project outside of an outer tube, and the cutting device may be rotated to create a circular cavity. In a method of use, a cannula provides access to a procedure site such as a joint. A pathway to the joint is created, and the cutting device is inserted and deployed to undercut a cavity in the joint. A fusion device may be implanted across the joint to provide compression and fuse the joint. The system may also include instrumentation for creating access to a joint, bone graft insertion and implant insertion.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2017Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignee: IMDS LLCInventors: Björn N. Rindal, Brian Scott Schumacher, Nicholas Slater, Navid Mahpeykar, Sigurd Berven, William W. Cross, III
