  • Patent number: 8606909
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for providing presence status information of a first user to a second user. The system includes a presence server for storing presence status information of the first user. The presence server is configured to detect a change in the presence status of the first user. The presence server also informs a notification server of a change in the presence status of the first user. The notification server sends a notification message to a communication device of the second user. The notification message contains current presence status information of the first user. Other systems and methods are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8090821
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for providing presence and availability status information of a first user to a second user. The system includes a presence availability server for storing presence and availability status information of the first user. The presence availability server is configured to detect a change in the presence and availability status of the first user. The presence availability server also informs a notification server of a change in the presence and availability status of the first user. The notification server sends a notification message to a communication device of the second user. The notification message contains current presence and availability status information of the first user. Other systems and methods are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7945038
Abstract: Methods and systems relating to a communication in an Advanced Intelligent Network from a caller to a subscriber's directory number where the communication has been terminated to a voice mail system (VMS) instead having been terminated to the subscriber's directory number. The methods and systems transfer the communication from the VMS so the VMS is no longer involved in the communication. A message indicating a release of the communication by the VMS is generated. The message also indicates an action to be taken regarding the communication such as a transfer to a different number. The action and related information may be provided in a remote operations parameter of a GR-1129 message. In response, directions are provided to carry-out the action. As a result, the communication is released from the VMS, and is acted upon without further involvement of the VMS.

  • Patent number: 7933390
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed that allow for the exchange of voice mail messages between different VMSs of different service providers and/or in different networks by the transmission of such messages through a data network using a standard protocol of the data network. Methods and systems also are disclosed that validate message transactions among subscribers receiving regional messaging services over the PSTN. The subscribers are located in different geographic areas and may be provided their voice, facsimile or data messaging services by different companies. The present invention validates passing messages (data) among customers of potentially different companies located in different areas by assessing the validity of the transaction in light of a number of conditions, including applicable regulatory or business conditions.

  • Patent number: 6810113
Abstract: Methods and systems allow use of a TCP/IP or other network for a message sender's messaging platform (MP1) to engage in a query/response exchange using a standardized protocol such as LDAP with a directory or an other messaging platform to obtain spoken name data associated with a recipient of a message from the sender. If available, the directory responds to the MP1 with the spoken name data. If unavailable at the directory, the directory may retrieve the spoken name data from an other messaging platform, or may provide MP1 with profile data indicating the location of the spoken name data. If MP1 does not receive the spoken name data from the directory, then MP1 may use the profile data to obtain the spoken name data from the location indicated. Once MP1 receives the spoken name data, MP1 makes a presentation to the sender.

  • Patent number: 6681257
Abstract: Methods and systems in a messaging system to identify a messaging platform for use in delivery of a message addressed to a mailbox address served by the messaging platform. The messaging system includes a network element and a plurality of directories. Using at least the NPA of the mailbox address, the network element determines which directory includes the indicator for the messaging platform for delivery of the message. Using at least the NPA-NXX of the mailbox address, the directory obtains and provides the indicator of the messaging platform for delivery of the message.

  • Patent number: 6608888
Abstract: Methods and systems to send a message from a sending party to a recipient without the message revealing an identity of the sending party. The identity may be the name of the sending party, a calling line number associated with a calling line of the sending party, or an e-mail address of the sending party. The message may be a reply to a previous message or a forwarding message of an earlier message. In response to a message being received, a check is made to determine whether an anonymity feature is enabled for all messages received from the sending party, or whether the anonymity feature is enabled for the message. In response to finding the anonymity feature enabled for all messages or for the message, an anonymity indicator is included with the message. The presence of the anonymity indicator has the effect of withholding the identity of the sending party when the message is made available to or retrieved by the recipient.
