  • Patent number: 10206618
Abstract: A sleep application running on a computing platform such as a server utilizes sleep data from a remote system that monitors a user's sleep behaviors and transforms the data to populate graphs of sleep sessions over various calendar periods (e.g., by week, by month) and render them on a user interface (UI) that is exposed to remote devices such as personal computers (PCs), tablets, multimedia consoles, and smartphones over a network. The sleep sessions are optimized for visibility on the remote devices by dynamically adjusting the range of the time axis of a graph so that a maximum number of sleep sessions over a calendar period may be graphed continuously over the range without breaks (which can impair visibility and reduce comprehension).

  • Publication number: 20170039332
Abstract: A method for presenting health notifications begins with creating a plurality of different health notifications, each conveying the same type of information. Each of the different health notifications is provided to a plurality of different users, each user categorized with user health metrics. Post-health notification user activity is tracked for each of the different users. A machine-learning classification machine is trained with tracked user activity, along with corresponding user health metrics, for each of the different health notifications. When provided with user health metrics received from a health-monitoring computing device associated with a user, the machine-learning classification machine chooses a selected health notification for the user from among the different health notifications, the selected notification determined to be more likely than any of the other health notifications to elicit a healthy response from the user. The selected health notification is then sent to the user.

  • Publication number: 20160370967
Abstract: A magnifier movement system is described herein that provides a more user-friendly experience for users of natural input devices when moving the magnifier and interacting with magnified user interface elements. The system receives an indication that a user has touched the screen with a natural input device at a particular location. The system displays a drag control for moving the magnifier, but does not move the magnifier unless the user selects the drag control and moves the natural input device. If the drag control is unselected and the system receives additional natural input, then the system passes the input on to the magnified application. Thus, the magnifier movement system provides a more satisfying user experience for users of natural input-based computer systems and screen magnifiers.

  • Patent number: 9229918
Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for presenting an application change through a tile. These techniques enable a user to see content associated with content changes to an application or other information about the application, such as a new article, new email, or a software update having become available since a user last visited the application. By so doing, the techniques enable a user to forgo visiting the application or permit the user to quickly and easily decide whether or not to visit the application.
