  • Patent number: 5599860
Abstract: The invention relates to improved polyacetal compositions composed of polyoxymethylene (component A) and a stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) formed from a rubber-elastic core based on polybutadiene, and a hard graft shell. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) contains a special stabilization formulation of at least one hindered phenol, a phosphite, a sulfide, and a pH buffer system. The shaped articles produced from these mixtures are particularly distinguished by an excellent low-temperature impact strength and a good heat aging performance.

  • Patent number: 5506307
Abstract: Polymer melt blends of a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene with up to 40 weight percent of another monoolefin, with a homopolymer of one or more of a C.sub.10 to C.sub.30 alkyl (meth)acrylate or a copolymer containing at least 70 weight percent of the one or more C.sub.10 to C.sub.30 ester of an alkyl (meth)acrylate with up to 30 weight percent of one or more of a C.sub.1 to C.sub.9 alkyl (meth)acrylate, the homopolymer or copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of at least 670,000, exhibit a relative characteristic time, as herein described, at least five (5) times that for the unmodified homo- or copolymer of polypropylene, and a melt strength ratio (as judged by relative sag resistance) at least 5 times that of the unmodified homo- or copolymer of polypropylene. Such blends are useful in thermoforming operations wherein sheet is thermoformed into cartons, containers, appliance housings, and the like.

  • Patent number: 5451624
Abstract: The invention relates to improved thermoplastic compositions composed of one or more thermoplastics (component A), and a stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) formed from a rubber-elastic core based on polybutadiene, and a hard graft shell. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer (component B) contains a special stabilization formulation of at least one hindered phenol, a phosphite, an organic sulfide, and optionally a pH buffer system. The stabilized MBS core shell graft copolymer improves the impact strength and heat aging properties of thermoplastic compositions and polyacetal compositions. The shaped articles produced from the improved thermoplastic compositions are particularly distinguished by an excellent high-temperature impact strength and a good heat aging performance.

  • Patent number: 5166239
Abstract: The invention is directed to stabilizer compositions, to polymers containing these stabilizer compositions for use as additives in polymeric matrices, and to polymeric products which contain these additives. The stabilizer compositions comprise a ternary composition of a sterically hindered phenol, a less sterically hindered phenol, and an organic phosphite. These compositions are admixed with polymers to provide polymeric additives to improve the physical and mechanical properties of polymeric matrices.
