  • Publication number: 20140075019
Abstract: A system and method for providing a service management engine for use with a cloud computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, enterprise software applications (e.g., Fusion Middleware applications) can be instantiated as services within a cloud platform, where they are then made accessible by other (e.g., customer) applications. In an embodiment, a service management engine (SME), in communication with an orchestration engine, can be used to provision services as one or more different service types, according to a service definition package (SDP). Service types can be instantiated according to the configuration of the cloud platform itself, and the contents of the SDP, including discovering, provisioning, and associating service types with system resources, to address different customer requirements.

  • Patent number: 8649631
Abstract: Disclosed is a distortion invariant system, method and computer readable medium for detecting the presence of one or more predefined targets in an input image. The input image and a synthetic discriminant function (SDF) reference image are correlated in a shift phase-encoded fringe-adjusted joint transform correlation (SPFJTC) correlator yielding a correlation output. A peak-to-clutter ratio (PCR) is determined for the correlation output and compared to a threshold value. A predefined target is present in the input image when the PCR is greater than or equal to the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20130009836
Abstract: A multiband dipole antenna solution suitable for use in various wireless device applications, and methods of tuning and utilizing the same. In one embodiment, the antenna is adapted for use in long term evolution (LTE or LTE-A) radio devices. In one implementation, the antenna comprises (i) two planar directly fed radiating elements operating in a lower frequency band and disposed on two opposing sides of a dielectric structure, and (ii) two electromagnetically coupled radiating elements operating in an upper frequency band also disposed on the opposing sides of the dielectric structure. An additional pair of electromagnetically coupled radiator elements is utilized to achieve wider antenna operating bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20120319918
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for matching the antenna of a radio device. In one embodiment, a capacitive sensor is arranged in the antenna structure and configured to detect the electric changes in the surroundings of the antenna. The mismatch caused by a change is rectified by means of the signal proportional to the sensor capacitance. This capacitance and the frequency range currently in use are input variables of a control unit. The antenna impedance is adjusted by means of a reactive matching circuit, the component values of which can be selected from a relatively wide array of alternatives by way of change-over switches, which are located in the transverse branches of the matching circuit.

  • Patent number: 8275720
Abstract: When creating exhaustive, affected lists within a request scope, any legal risk due to failure to identify or leverage existing knowledge of a company about custody of evidence related to a legal matter is minimized. Accurate affected lists are constructed for an ongoing or impending litigation. Affected people, systems, or record types are included at first, and the list is modified over time once their exact association to the litigation context is clarified (new ones are added, not required are removed). Automation of data capture eliminates the risk of human error during data entry. Conflict resolution is applied when the same person, system, or record type is identified in the request scope, as part of multiple affiliations and associations. Overlapping lists are automatically merged to enable simple and efficient processing, without having to cull different lists. Affected elements in the request scope that could otherwise be missed are tracked and added.

  • Publication number: 20120188141
Abstract: A multiresonance antenna useful in small-sized radio devices. In one embodiment, radiating element of the antenna comprises, a first and a second radiating arm of nearly equal electric lengths. The tail portions of the arms are located on different sides of the area determined by the outline of the radiator and point to opposite directions away from each other thereby exciting a double resonance in the antenna. The second arm comprises at least one branch extending towards the tail portion of the first arm thereby widening antenna operating band in the frequency range of 900 MHz.

  • Patent number: 7165186
Abstract: A system and method for selectively checkpointing application components. In one embodiment this method may include deploying a plurality of application components on a server, determining checkpoint information for each application component on the server, and selectively checkpointing each component during execution of each component according to the checkpoint information for each component. In one embodiment the checkpoint information may be provided by a checkpoint selection heuristic, which makes checkpoint selections based on a description of one or more methods of the application component. In one embodiment the checkpoint information may be provided by a deployment descriptor, which may have multiple overriding tiers to facilitate precise selection of methods, components and modules for checkpointing. In one embodiment the checkpoint and activation process may include callback routines which prepare an application component for checkpointing and activation.

  • Patent number: 6606187
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for exploiting almost the full almost 25 THz of bandwidth available in the low-loss window in optical fibers (from 1430 nm to 1620 nm) using a parallel combination of optical amplifiers. The low-loss window at about 1530 nm-1620 nm can be amplified using erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). However, due to the inherent absorption of the erbium at shorter wavelengths, EDFAs cannot be used below about 1525 nm without a significant degradation in performance. For the low-loss window at approximately 1430-1530 nm, amplifiers based on nonlinear polarization in optical fibers can be used effectively. A broadband nonlinear polarization amplifier (NLPA) is disclosed which combines cascaded Raman amplification with parametric amplification or four-wave mixing. In particular, one of the intermediate cascade Raman order wavelengths &lgr;r should lie in close proximity to the zero-dispersion wavelength &lgr;0 of the amplifying fiber.
