  • Patent number: 4682029
Abstract: A stereoscopic infrared imager includes optics for producing infrared images of two different views of an infrared scene. A scanning mirror alternately scans the two infrared images across a single infrared detector array. The detector array modulates a light source array to produce a visible image of the scanned part of the infrared scene. Optics are provided for producing visible images of the light source array at the positions of the eyes of the observer. A second scanning mirror alternately scans the image of the light source array across the two eyes of the observer in order to construct full visible images of the scene.

  • Patent number: 4641192
Abstract: A focus-corrected convergent beam scanner includes a lens arranged to receive light from a scene and to form an image of the scene in an image plane. A mirror annulus is arranged behind the lens to reflect light from the scene which is passed through the lens. A detector is arranged to receive light from the scene which has been reflected by the mirror annulus. The mirror annulus is rotatable about an axis of rotation in order to scan the image of the scene across the detector. The tilt angle of the reflecting surface of the mirror annulus varies as a function of the position of the reflecting surface along the circumferential axis of the mirror annulus. The circumferential axis is arranged at a varying distance from the lens such that the image plane of the scene is always reflected onto the detector.

  • Patent number: 4518218
Abstract: A mirror assembly for scanning incoming radiation from a scene onto one or more radiation detectors. The mirror assembly includes a cylindrical mirror arrangement having at least two mirror faces arranged around a central axis. Each mirror face is made up of a plurality of planar mirror segments. The mirror segments are arranged to form a stepped structure in which each mirror segment in a given mirror face is parallel to each other mirror segment in the mirror face.

  • Patent number: 4516159
Abstract: An optical scanning device, for scanning bundles of parallel rays of light defining a field of view, includes a substantially planar disc, means for rotating the disc on its axis, and a substantially planar reflective member. The disc has a first portion which is reflective and a second portion which is transmissive. The planar reflective member is arranged in a fixed position behind the disc such that the normal to the planar reflective member subtends a nonzero angle with respect to the disc axis. As the disc is rotated, the light rays to be scanned are alternately incident upon the reflective portion of the disc and the transmissive portion of the disc. When the light rays are incident on the transmissive portion, they pass through the disc and are reflected by the fixed reflective member which is arranged behind the disc. Both the reflective portion of the disc and the fixed reflective member reflect the light rays to be scanned onto a fixed detector.
