  • Publication number: 20070213085
Abstract: A method to reduce Doppler induced errors in mobile nodes of a wireless network. The method includes receiving a Doppler shifted signal having a Doppler shifted transmission frequency at a mobile node moving at a velocity, measuring an acceleration of the mobile node in three directions, generating an array of Doppler shifted frequency estimates based on the measured acceleration and a previously generated pseudo-transmission frequency, generating a current pseudo-transmission frequency based on the array of Doppler shifted frequency estimates and tracking the Doppler shifted transmission frequency of the received signal to the current pseudo-transmission frequency. In this manner, the mobile node nominally tracks and decodes a Doppler shifted signal.

  • Publication number: 20070194987
Abstract: Systems and methods for a high-precision time of arrival ultra-wideband positioning system are provided. In one embodiment, a method for generating precision localizer messages for an ultra-wideband time-of-arrival positioning system is provided. The method comprises receiving a signal from an atomically accurate reference, generating a timing signal based on the atomically accurate reference signal, correcting a system time based on the timing signal when an error is detected, and transmitting an ultra-wideband signal having a localization message based on the system time.

  • Publication number: 20070129879
Abstract: Improved precision navigation systems and methods are provided. In one embodiment, a navigation system is provided. The system comprises a global navigation satellite system receiver adapted to output information representing the location of a vehicle based on one or more signals from one or more satellites; an ultra-wideband ranging system adapted to output information representing the location of the vehicle based on one or more ultra-wideband signals; and a vehicle guidance system coupled to receive the location output from the global navigation satellite system receiver and the location output from the ultra-wideband ranging system. The vehicle guidance system is adapted to maneuver the vehicle based on the information from at least one of the global navigation satellite system receiver and the ultra-wideband ranging system based on a distance of the vehicle from a target object.

  • Publication number: 20070046530
Abstract: Systems and methods for satellite navigation are provided. In one embodiment, a mobile unit for a satellite navigation system is disclosed. The mobile unit comprises means for transmitting a request radio signal to satellite vehicles; means for receiving a response radio signal, wherein the response radio signal includes orbital coordinates of the one or more satellite vehicles; means for calculating a range to the satellite vehicles by calculating a time difference of arrival range based on a transmitted request radio signal and a received response radio signal, wherein the means for calculating a range is responsive to the means for transmitting a request radio signal and the means for receiving a response radio signal; and means for calculating position based on the range to at least three satellite vehicles and the orbital coordinates of the at least three satellite vehicles responsive to the means for calculating a range.
