  • Patent number: 9181511
Abstract: The present invention relates to lubricating oil compositions comprising sulfurised esters that exhibit good antioxidancy performance whilst maintaining nitrile elastomer seal compatibility
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 1, 2009
Date of Patent: November 10, 2015
    Assignee: INFINEUM INTERNATIONAL LIMITED
Inventors: Benjamin R. Elvidge, Nancy Z. Diggs, Neal J. Milne, Nigel A. Male
  • Patent number: 8999903
Abstract: Para-alkylated substituted diphenylamines are made by catalytically alkylating diphenylamine with a branched-chain alkene, such as propene, oligomer mixture in which the oligomer present in the greatest percentage has 15-24 carbon atoms. The alkylated diphenylamines are useful crankcase lubricant additives such as for reducing piston deposits and engine sludge.

  • Publication number: 20140011725
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of reducing the rate of depletion of basicity (as determined by ASTM D2896) of a lubricating oil composition in use in an engine. The lubricating oil composition includes at least one overbased alkali or alkaline earth metal detergent. The method comprises adding to the lubricating oil composition one or more compounds of Formula (I): wherein: x is 1 to 50, preferably 1 to 40, more preferably 1 to 30; R1 and R2 are H, hydrocarbyl groups having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or hydrocarbyl groups having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and at least one heteroatom; R is a hydrocarbyl group having 9 to 100, preferably 9 to 70, most preferably, 9 to 50, carbon atoms; and n is 0 to 10, or alkaline earth metal salts thereof. The compounds of formula (I) are preferably methylene-bridged alkyl phenols or ethoxylated methylene-bridged alkyl phenols.

  • Publication number: 20090156441
Abstract: The invention is a C5-C12 cycloalkyl substituted phenylenediamine that provides deposit-control lubricant additives for organic materials including lubricating oil, gasoline, and diesel fuels. The invention improves the oxidative stability of the lubricants and fuels by adding cycloalkyl substituted phenylenediamines having one or more additional N-substituents.
