  • Patent number: 8234240
Abstract: A metrics generation system provides IT and other computing system metrics from different data sources in a single display. Configuration files containing parameters and instructions are loaded by the system to access different data sources. The metrics generation system retrieves IT system health data, processes and aggregates metrics from the retrieved data and displays the metrics based on user defined parameters and instructions in the configuration files. The metrics generation system is flexible in that it can be changed to extract data from different IT data sources, calculate different metric information having a hierarchy of attribute types and values, and display a variety of metric data in different formats.

  • Patent number: 7546221
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for creating and using applicable information technology maps. Defined rules that indicate how information technology services interrelate to other computing components in the information technology infrastructure are received. A specified level of detail is selected, from among one or more levels of detail in taxonomy for the information technology infrastructure, for presenting the service map of the information technology service. Ownership for components that are to be presented in the service map is associated with specified responsible entities. The service map is created with the specified level of detail. The service map can then be accessed and utilized to discretely apply a process theory to the information technology infrastructure.

  • Publication number: 20080313628
Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing non-executable configuration files into a resource reporting application are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, a method for implementing non-executable configuration files into a resource reporting application includes developing one or more non-executable data files for implementation into the resource reporting application. The non-executable data files are then bundled into a file pack. The file pack is then distributed to the resource reporting application. The resource reporting application then implements one or more non-executable data files into the resource reporting application. In further embodiments, the non-executable data files include XML files. In some embodiments, the non-executable data files are bundled into a .cab file pack.

  • Publication number: 20080270469
Abstract: A metrics generation system provides IT computing system metrics that are aggregated by a custom hierarchy. The custom hierarchy is specified by a user through configuration files.

  • Publication number: 20080062885
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for implementing a major problem review process. Incidents are recorded in a common data schema and the data is then used to facilitate an IT organization's major problem review process. Reporting is provided on the data in a format that allows trend information to be readily compiled. The format allows tracking both a primary root cause and an exacerbating cause of an incident or problem. Incidents can be recorded in relation to a group of elements having a common characteristic. The technology includes facilities for tracking downtime minutes by server, service, and database.
