  • Patent number: 4794826
Abstract: A hydraulic powered wrench for fastening and unfastening a bolt, or the like, is presented. A wrench comprises a control valve capable of coupling hydraulic fluid to either of two hydraulic conduits, one on each side of a hydraulic piston within a hydraulic cylinder so that the control valve can move the piston linearly. A double ended socket, each end comprising a bolt receiving surface is utilized. Only a single positive drive is coupled to an external female spline and is coupled to rotate the socket in one direction only. A cylinder rod is coupled to and moved linearly by the piston and is pivotally connected to drive rotationally the drive arm via a female clevis wherein the drive arm is coupled to rotate the ratchet thru the positive drive which in turn is coupled to the socket.

  • Patent number: 4214842
Abstract: A maneuverable tool means for continuously maneuvering and controlling a pipe string end as it is lowered for engagement with a selected well part at the sea floor. The tool means comprises a body member attachable to the pipe string end, the body member carrying laterally directed thrust means; fluid pressure means in communication with the thrust means to impart thrust forces to the pipe string end and a remote control system for the fluid pressure means. The tool means also includes TV and sonar systems to sense the presence of adjacent objects as the pipe string end is lowered and to identify a well part with which the tool is to be cooperably associated. The tool means is provided with a lock means for temporarily retaining the tool means in a selected position in a guide funnel on a well template to facilitate installation of a guide line base means on the template.

  • Patent number: 4155672
Abstract: A cage construction for protection of well equipment at a subsea wellhead and during descent to or ascent from a subsea well, said cage construction comprising an open frame cage body means defining a longitudinal axis, an intermediate cage portion of selected lateral and vertical dimension to encompass well equipment supported from a wellhead at the sea floor, and end cage portions extending upwardly and downwardly from said intermediate cage portion serving as guidance means, each cage end portion including coaxial receptor members, the receptor member at the lower end portion being adapted to receive and to be supported from a wellhead part, and the receptor member at the upper cage end portion being adapted to align, receive and pass therethrough the lower end of a pipe string into said cage body means.
