    Abstract: A metallic wave guide having a smooth protected surface is connected at one end to a metal structural member under test and at the other to a metal plate to which a piezo electric crystal transducer of preselected frequency response is attached. The lengths of primary and secondary wave guides are carefully selected to control attenuation and time delay of the acoustical energy transmitted along the wave guides to balance inputs and provide repeatable testing data.
