  • Publication number: 20120330744
Abstract: A system for receiving a real-time discount with an open loop debit card, credit card or mobile payment device in a multi-merchant, multi-payer commercial environment. The system has a plurality of buckets with information concerning discounts currently available, a point of sale (POS) device initiates a transaction, a financial processor transmits a query to an account issuing bank to determine whether the payer has sufficient funds for the transaction, the issuing bank communicates with the discount system in real time to determine if a discount is available, if a discount is available, the issuing bank borrows the amount of the discount by from an issuing bank discount reserve pooled (IBDRP) account and the issuing bank credits the payer's account in real time with the amount of the discount.

  • Publication number: 20090127328
Abstract: A time and attendance biometric terminal communicates with a payroll system via general packet radio service (GPRS) protocol. The biometric terminal may be remotely activated and set up by entry of its serial number and an internal activation token, which are both supplied after payment information is first entered and verified. Payroll stubs may be printed at a facsimile machine or at a remote printer by the steps of identifying a person, communicating with a payroll database to obtain payroll information for the identified person, communicating the payroll information for the identified person to the remote printer, and printing the obtained payroll information at the facsimile machine or at the remote printer as a payroll stub.

  • Patent number: 7229013
Abstract: Employees gain access to a payroll and work management system by authentication at a multi-purpose terminal with a bankcard encoded with a unique account number and a personal identification number (PIN). The terminal may then be used to check-in and checkout of work, to receive new work instructions or assignments, to review payroll details, to print a payroll stub, to execute financial transactions, to print a receipt of financial transactions or to review or to upload the results of work quality audits. The invention also includes systems and methods that utilize such multi-purpose terminals to calculate the payroll and deductions for each employee and to issue electronic fund transfers from the employer's bank account to deposit the net pay in a bank account associated with each employee's bankcard so that the pay is immediately accessible by each employee, such as by withdrawal of cash at an ATM or by purchases at a point of sale.

  • Patent number: 6122605
Abstract: A closed loop feedback control system operates to maintain a process variable at or near a process variable setpoint. A digital filter is implemented with the controller to filter the process variable signal input to the controller. The filter includes both an amplitude filter to clip signal spikes and glitches and low pass filter to remove higher order, noise related frequencies from the signal, that could adversely affect computational speed of the controller.

  • Patent number: 5867384
Abstract: A closed loop feedback control system that operates to maintain a process variable at or near a process variable setpoint. The system includes a setpoint regulator that adjusts the value of a process variable in response to a setpoint associated therewith. A sensor associated with the setpoint regulator senses the process variable and outputs a process variable signal corresponding thereto. A controller connected to both the setpoint regulator and the sensor in a closed loop is programmed with PID logic to control operation of the setpoint regulator in response to the process variable signal received from the sensor. The controller generates a control signal that controls the setpoint regulator based on a non-uniform two-point sampling of the process variable signal. The controller delivers smooth, bump-free, control in spite of changes in the setpoint controller gains or system parameters.

  • Patent number: 5769314
Abstract: A variable air volume heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system controller with adaptive control architecture adjusts control parameters to provide for increased direct expansion coil air flow and reduced compressor cycling. The supply air temperature set point is adjusted as a function of the return air temperature and compressor cycling is time limited.

  • Patent number: 5558274
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual duct control system for use in an environmental control system. The dual duct control system is preferably utilized in a dual duct VAV box. The control system advantageously receives room temperature values, mixed air flow values, and positions the actuators in response to temperature values and flow values. The dual duct control system preferably executes a shower algorithm implemented in software to position the actuators. The shower algorithm provides a scheme for incrementally adjusting the hot and cold air flow setpoints for the VAV box so the internal environment reaches a comfortable temperature within a minimum amount of time.
