  • Publication number: 20130188549
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling activation of at least one terminal in a machine-type communication application using a wireless access network. The wireless access network comprises a number of location areas, each of the location areas comprising a plurality of cells. The terminal has been assigned an identifier. First, a location identifier is received from a location provider, the location identifier indicating a subset of cells of at least one of the location areas. Activation of the at least one terminal is then controlled by transmitting at least one broadcast message on at least one cell broadcast channel in the cells of the subset indicated by the location identifier. The broadcast message contains the identifier or identifier part assigned to the terminal, such that the at least one terminal is signalled that the broadcast message is intended for him. An activation control system and a mobile terminal for use with such a system are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130157621
Abstract: At least a method for verifying the authenticity of one or more authentication messages in an authentication procedure between a network and a mobile device is described wherein the method comprises: sending an authentication request through a first radio access node to a said mobile device, said radio access node being associated with first location information; said mobile device generating second location information associated with the location of said mobile device; and, verifying the authenticity of the origin of said authentication request by checking if said second location information comprises said first location information.

  • Publication number: 20130130644
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of transferring data from at least a first communication module and a second communication module to, respectively, a first data processing centre and a second data processing centre via a circuit switched telecommunications network. A first and second connection request containing respective first and second pre-provisioned telephone numbers from the first and second communication modules are received in the network. The first and second telephone numbers are processed such that the network refrains from authenticating the first and second communication modules. Subsequently first and a second circuit switched data connections are established with the first and second communication modules for receiving data. The data can be routed from the first communication module to the first data processing centre and from the second communication module to the second data processing centre in accordance with the first and second telephone numbers, respectively.
