Abstract: The present subject matter relates to file creation. In one example a user request for creating a new file is received. An inode corresponding to a pre-created file is retrieved from a pre-created pool of files in response to receiving the user request. Further, the inode is associated with an in-memory dentry corresponding to the new file. Further, a log entry is created in an intent log to indicate intent of lazy linking of the pre-created file with a target directory in which the new file is to be created. Further, lazy linking of the pre-created file with the target directory is performed using a file system link operation upon occurrence of a predefined event.

Abstract: Techniques for direct access of a Network File System (NFS) exported share are provided. In one aspect, a request to access a NFS exported share may be received at a NFS client. It may be determined that a NFS server exporting the share is running on the same node that is running the NFS client. The exported share may be directly accessed by the NFS client.

Abstract: A method for preserving file locks is described herein. The method includes detecting a node migration event, occurring at a migrating node, in a cluster system (105) and in response to detection of the node migration event, initiating a deny mode for an affected node in the cluster system (105), the deny mode being initiated with respect to an affected file system. Further, it is ascertained whether a migration completion criterion is met and an allow mode for an adoptive node is initiated, when the migration completion criterion is met. In the allow mode, the adoptive node processes lock reclaim requests associated with a migrating node.
