Publication number: 20150370440Abstract: Management of an event on a calendar with a timeline is provided. An application such as a calendar application displays an initial context menu that includes a create control on the calendar, in response to an initial selection action of the event displayed on the calendar. The event is presented on the timeline, in response to an activation of the create control. A new context menu, that includes a delete control, is displayed on the timeline, in response to a new selection action of the event displayed on the timeline. Patent number: 8781250Abstract: Described are techniques for image deconvolution to deblur an image given a blur kernel. Localized color statistics derived from the image to be deblurred serve as a prior constraint during deconvolution. A pixel's color is formulated as a linear combination of the two most prevalent colors within a neighborhood of the pixel. This may be repeated for many or all pixels in an image. The linear combinations of the pixels serve as a two-color prior for deconvolving the blurred image. The two-color prior is responsive to the content of the image and it may decouple edge sharpness from edge strength.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2008Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Charles Lawrence Zitnick, Neel Joshi, Richard Szeliski

Patent number: 8588551Abstract: The multi-image sharpening and denoising technique described herein creates a clean (low-noise, high contrast), detailed image of a scene from a temporal series of images of the scene. The technique employs a process of image alignment to remove global and local camera motion plus a novel weighted image averaging procedure that avoids sacrificing sharpness to create a resultant high-detail, low-noise image from the temporal series. In addition, the multi-image sharpening and denoising technique can employ a dehazing procedure that uses a spatially varying airlight model to dehaze an input image.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2010Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Microsoft Corp.Inventors: Neel Joshi, Michael Cohen

Patent number: 8417047Abstract: A low light noise reduction mechanism may perform denoising prior to demosaicing, and may also use parameters determined during the denoising operation for performing demosaicing. The denoising operation may attempt to find several patches of an image that are similar to a first patch, and use a weighted average based on similarity to determine an appropriate value for denoising a raw digital image. The same weighted average and similar patches may be used for demosaicing the same image after the denoising operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2011Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Priyam Chatterjee, Neel Joshi, Sing Bing Kang, Yasuyuki Matsushita

Patent number: 8139886Abstract: A two-dimensional blur kernel is computed for a digital image by first estimating a sharp image from the digital image. The sharp image is derived from the digital image by sharpening at least portions of the digital image. The two-dimensional blur function is computed by minimizing an optimization algorithm that estimates the blur function.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2008Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Richard Szeliski, Neel Joshi, Charles Lawrence Zitnick

Publication number: 20110243883Abstract: The present invention provides branched polymers which can be used as lubricants or shock absorbers in vivo. For example, the inventive polymers can be used as viscosupplements, viscoelastics, tissue space fillers, and/or anti-adhesive agents. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising the inventive polymers and methods of using them including, for example, in the treatment of arthritic and sport-injured knee joints; in reconstruction or cosmetic procedures, intervertebral disc repair, treatment of vocal cord problems, treatment of urinary incontinence, and prevention of adhesion formation following abdominal or gynecological surgery.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2008Publication date: October 6, 2011Applicant: TRUSTEES OF BOSTON UNIVERSITYInventors: Mark W. Patent number: 8027531Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and a method for video capture of a three-dimensional region of interest in a scene using an array of video cameras. The video cameras of the array are positioned for viewing the three-dimensional region of interest in the scene from their respective viewpoints. A triggering mechanism is provided for staggering the capture of a set of frames by the video cameras of the array. The apparatus has a processing unit for combining and operating on the set of frames captured by the array of cameras to generate a new visual output, such as high-speed video or spatio-temporal structure and motion models, that has a synthetic viewpoint of the three-dimensional region of interest. The processing involves spatio-temporal interpolation for determining the synthetic viewpoint space-time trajectory. In some embodiments, the apparatus computes a multibaseline spatio-temporal optical flow.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Bennett Wilburn, Neel Joshi, Marc C. Levoy, Mark Horowitz

Publication number: 20110158909Abstract: The present invention provides compounds useful as contrast agents, such as for the CT imaging of cartilage tissue. The contrast agents are generally iodinated organic molecules that are positively charged under physiological environments. Also provided are compositions containing contrast agents and methods of using the agents, including, for example, the monitoring of glycosaminoglycan content in cartilage tissue. The invention provides non-invasive analytical techniques for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis in its earliest stages. The invention also provides improvements over existing contrast agents for cartilage monitoring, which tend to exhibit low residence times and require high dosages.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Trustees of Boston UniversityInventors: Mark W.
