  • Publication number: 20240064596
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for interference mitigation techniques between wireless communications and aircraft radio altimeters. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) and a network entity may support one or more signaling- or configuration-based interference avoidance mechanisms associated with usage of a C-band at one or both of the UE and the network entity. The UE may support a capability according to which the UE is able to monitor a frequency band used by aircraft radio altimeters and the UE may request a modification to a C-band connection (such as request a release of the C-band connection) if the UE detects or measures signaling from an aircraft radio altimeter. Similarly, the network entity may modify the C-band connection if the network entity receives the request from the UE or itself detects or measures signaling from an aircraft radio altimeter.

  • Patent number: 11304198
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described Generally, the described techniques provide for dynamically adjusting PDCP data splitting based on traffic parameters. In some examples, a wireless device may allocate data between first and second radio access technologies. The wireless device may receive a first set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at the wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the first radio access technology. The wireless device may receive a second set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at a second wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the second radio access technology. The wireless device may adjust the data allocation to the first and second radio access technologies based on receiving the first and second sets of data traffic parameters.

  • Patent number: 11115990
Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that include autonomous beam selection performed by a mobile device are discussed. A mobile device may receive a first SSB on a current-serving reception beam and receive other SSBs on different reception beams. The mobile device may autonomously switch beams during communication without instruction from another device. A UE can adjust from one beam to another while performing wireless communication using a current-serving reception beam to performing wireless communication using a second reception beam. A switch can occur upon determining that the quality of wireless communication performed using the second reception beam on which a second SSB was received is higher than the quality of wireless communication performed using the current-serving reception beam on which the first SSB was received. Other features are also described.

  • Patent number: 9743459
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for optimizing long term evolution (LTE) connected discontinuous reception (CDRX) for single radio hybrid tune away devices. Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes entering a DRX mode wherein the UE alternates between an activity period and an inactivity period while connected to a first radio access technology (RAT) network, tuning away from the first RAT network for a tune away period to monitor signals in a second RAT network, determining when an inactivity timer for the DRX mode expires or will expire, and adjusting a value of the inactivity timer based, at least in part, on the determination.

  • Patent number: 9609598
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus configured to establish a wireless connection to a first network, tune away from the first network for a first predetermined interval, tune back to the first network after the first predetermined interval, enter a power control freeze state for a second predetermined interval after tuning back to the first network, send a plurality of transmissions to the first network during the second predetermined interval, determine if a number of the plurality of transmissions that are not received by the first network exceeds a first threshold or if a number of the plurality of transmissions that are retransmitted to the first network exceeds a second threshold, and exit the power control freeze state when it is determined that the first threshold is exceeded or when it is determined that the second threshold is exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20160219645
Abstract: Aspects of managing a connection in a wireless communication system are described. As an example, the aspects may include deleting, at a base station, context information associated with a radio connection of a user equipment (UE) with the base station when the base station stops serving the UE. Further, the aspects may include transmitting, by the base station, a context drop notification to one or more neighboring base stations, wherein the context drop notification indicates that the context information associated with the UE has been deleted at the base station. As such, based on associating the UE with the deleted context information, the base station or the one or more neighboring base stations may avoid attempting to fetch the context information of the UE from other neighboring base stations in response to receiving a connection re-establishment request from the UE.

  • Patent number: 9392498
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication, including for intelligent mode selection for circuit switched fall back devices. A user equipment (UE) attached to a wireless network may determine that circuit switched fall back (CSFB) service is not available. The UE may thus elect to operate in a packet switched (PS) operating mode until CSFB service again becomes available. For example, the UE may receive a system information block (SIB) indicating that the CSFB connection is not available, the UE may attempt to access a CSFB a predetermined number of times, or the UE may miss a number of voice calls. The UE may, based on this determination, select a packet switched (PS) operating mode. The UE may continue to exchange PS data with the serving cell based on the PS operating mode. The UE may then periodically evaluate the signal quality for a 1x cell.

  • Publication number: 20160112924
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for early radio link failure (RLF) declaration. A UE may identify a measurement report message (MRM) trigger and initiate an RLF procedure. In the RLF procedure the UE may determine whether a radio link condition indicative of an RLF has been satisfied before an expiration of a timer that is initiated by the MRM trigger. As an example, the UE may determine that a threshold number of uplink radio link signaling messages, such as MRMs, have been transmitted without a radio link control (RLC) acknowledgement (ACK). The UE may declare RLF based on the determination that the radio link condition has been satisfied. In some examples the UE may verify that channel conditions are better for a target cell than for the serving cell, and may declare RLF based further on the channel comparison.

  • Publication number: 20160095033
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus, e.g., UE, suspends a discarding process of data packets associated with a first RAT during tune away by the UE to a second RAT by stopping a discard timer. The UE restarts the discarding process in response to an occurrence of a triggering event. The triggering event may occur when the UE tunes back to the first RAT, or when a duration of the UE tune away to the second RAT exceeds a threshold. The discarding process may be restarted by resuming the discard timer at the point in time where it was stopped or by resetting the timer to zero.

  • Publication number: 20160080984
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. A user equipment (UE) may establish a connection to a serving cell and monitor channel conditions for the serving cell and neighboring cells. Based on the channel conditions, the UE may determine to read the system information of a non-serving neighbor. The UE may then read the system information of the non-serving neighbor cell while still connected to the serving cell. In some cases, the UE may store the system information in a database. When the time comes for the UE to access the neighbor cell (e.g., if the link to the serving cell fails) the UE may proceed with access procedures without delay using the stored system information.
