Abstract: A sealing plug for a block-and-tackle balance comprises a sealing member having an outer periphery shaped so as to conform to an inner surface of a channel of a window jamb in which the block-and-tackle balance is accommodated. An opening is defined in the sealing member allowing a cord of the block-and-tackle balance to pass therethrough such that the cord is movable with a movement of a window panel. A connector configuration in the sealing member and allows the sealing member to be releasably secured to a bottom end of the block-and-tackle balance.

Abstract: In a window frame track, a U-shaped channel having a front wall connecting a pair of side walls includes a block, a cam rotatably mounted in the block, an axial opening in the cam generally concentric with an opening through the front wall, a sash attached to the cam by a bar extending through the opening through the front wall into the axial opening in the cam, a plate extendable from the block axially against said track contacting the cam prevents vertical movement of the U-shaped cannel in the track when the sash is rotated out of the window frame.

Abstract: A sash balance shoe housing designed to move along a window frame contains a spring attached to the housing and to a first pulley block that is movable along the housing, a second pulley block fixed against movement along the housing integrally molded with a brake mechanism bearing surface for supporting a cam designed to connect to a sash, and a cord attached by one end to one of the first pulley block and the second pulley block, wrapped around at least one pulley in each block and extending from the housing for attaching the other end to the window frame.

Abstract: A threaded follower mounted on a spiral rod is attached to the first end of a torsion spring, the second end of the torsion spring being connected to a window sash, one end of the spiral rod being attached to a window frame by a gear box that prevents rotation of the spiral rod unless the gear box receives externally provided rotational force by which it then rotates the spiral rod.

Abstract: A balance shoe mounts on a pair of cross bars in a rigid U-shaped channel by an upward facing slot on the shoe receiving one bar, and a downward facing channel on the shoe containing a resilient hook that hooks over the other bar as the shoe is rotated on the first bar to the bottom of the channel, a spring and pulley system in the channel supported by a cord attached to the window frame supports the sash along the vertical travel length of the sash. The sash is supported by a cam in the shoe that is turned by a pivot arm on the sash that is rotated by the sash as the sash rotates in and out of a window frame. The cam forces brake surfaces against the track to prevent vertical movement of the sash along the window frame when the sash is rotated out of the frame.
