  • Patent number: 8214849
Abstract: A system and methods are provided for loading device-specific functions into a device driver. Upon boot-up an operating system initiates a device driver to be loaded into kernel mode memory. Functions that are device independent are loaded into memory and form a first portion of the device driver. An identifier associated with a particular device being used is received. The device identifier is compared to a table of supported devices to identify a device-specific image from a plurality of executable image files. The identified device-specific image is then loaded to form a second portion of the device driver in kernel mode memory.

  • Patent number: 7212210
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enlarging an output display includes a message hook application capable of receiving a magnification event indicator, wherein the magnification event indicator includes a magnification factor. The method and apparatus further includes a character generator coupled to the message hook application wherein the character generator receives a text call from the message hook application. The character generator thereupon generates a magnified character set including a plurality of characters enlarged by the magnification factor. A display driver is coupled to the message hook application and the character generator, wherein the display driver receives the character set at the magnified font size and caches the character set. A direct draw surface is coupled to the display driver such that the direct draw surface receive one or more of the characters enlarged by the magnification factor.

  • Patent number: 4413917
Abstract: A temperature measuring system comprises a sensor which is connected to a supply rail through a first lead, and which may be selectively connected by a relay through a second lead or a third lead to the inverting input of an operational amplifier. The leads have different resistance values. The output of the amplifier is connected to its input through a resistor, and its non-inverting input is connected to the rail through a potential divider. The output of the amplifier is connected to a computer through a low pass filter and an A/D converter. In operation, the output voltage of the amplifier is first measured with the second lead connected to its inverting input and then measured again with the third lead connected. From these measurements the resistance of the sensor is calculated after calculating and hence eliminating the resistance of the leads. The sensed temperature can then be calculated from the resistance of the sensor.
