Method for accuracy estimation of network based corrections for a satellite-aided positioning system
Patent number: 8072373Abstract: In a method for accuracy estimation of network based corrections for a satellite-aided positioning system, with a network of reference stations code and phase measurements are recorded by the reference stations and transferred to a network processing centre. The measurements are converted to observables and single-differences between a master station and at least one auxiliary station selected for each reference station are calculated. Estimates of single-difference between each reference station and the corresponding master station are generated and slant residuals for each reference station and satellite are calculated by using the difference between calculated single-differences and estimates. Subsequently double-differences are formed by differencing satellite s and the slant residuals of a reference satellite k, leading to zenith residuals calculated by mapping the double-differences to a zenith value.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2008Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: Leica Geosystems AGInventor: Neil Brown -

Patent number: 8008795Abstract: A power generation system is disclosed for supplying power to an electrical grid. The system comprises a synchronous machine and coupling means for coupling the synchronous machine to a prime mover. Control means are provided to control the system such that the system is selectively operable in two modes. Publication number: 20100013340Abstract: A rotating electrical machine is disclosed, the machine comprising a stator 14, 52 and a rotor 10, 50 arranged to rotate inside the stator. The rotor comprises a plurality of permanent magnets 28, 30, 54 arranged to produce a radial magnetic flux in an airgap between the rotor and the stator. The machine also comprises a stationary excitation coil 34, 46, 66. The rotor comprises a plurality of low reluctance elements 32, 58. A current through the stationary excitation coil causes a magnetic flux to be established in a magnetic flux path which passes into the rotor through a first low reluctance element and out of the rotor through a second low reluctance element, which magnetic flux combines with the radial magnetic flux produced by the permanent magnets in the airgap. This arrangement can allow control of the field within a permanent magnet radial flux machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2009Publication date: January 21, 2010Applicant: Cummins Generator Technologies LimitedInventor: Neil Brown

Publication number: 20070112824Abstract: A method of anomaly detection applicable to telecommunications or retail fraud or software vulnerabilities uses inductive logic programming to develop anomaly characterisation rules from relevant background knowledge and a training data set, which includes positive anomaly samples of data covered by rules. Data samples include 1 or 0 indicating association or otherwise with anomalies. An anomaly is detected by a rule having condition set which the anomaly fu,lfils. Rules are developed by addition of conditions and unification of variables, and are filtered to remove duplicates, equivalents, symmetric rules and unnecessary conditions. Overfitting of noisy data is avoided by an encoding cost criterion. Termination of rule construction involves criteria of rule length, absence of negative examples, rule significance and accuracy, and absence of recent refinement.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2004Publication date: May 17, 2007Applicant: QINETIQ LIMITEDInventors: Zoe Lock, Emma Peeling, Claire Thie, Neil Brown, Richard Hatch, Alan Hood, Simon Kilvington, Mohammed Zakiuddin
