Publication number: 20220387656Abstract: An apparatus for disinfecting an air space is presented. The apparatus includes a housing having a front surface, a back surface, a top surface, a bottom surface, a first end, and a second end. A light emitting diode is inside the housing and configured to emit ultraviolet radiation, at least 90% of which has a wavelength less than 280 nm, in a direction away from the housing into surrounding space. Circuits inside the housing control the light emitting diode to emit radiation at different intensity levels including zero. Motion sensors may be coupled to the circuits to turn the light emitting diode on and off and modulate the intensity of radiation that is emitted, thereby avoiding exposing occupants of the space to harmful radiation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2022Publication date: December 8, 2022Inventors: Jeremy Kuempel, Thomas Carlson, Sivan Sud, Wiley Wang, Neil Day, Ashley Lynn Miller, John Cody Semones

Patent number: 6926916Abstract: The present invention relates to chewing gum composition comprising a polymeric surface active agent. A second aspect of this invention relates to a crunchy chewing gum wherein the crunchy texture is provided by particulate polyphosphate particles within the formulation and which lasts through the initial minutes of mastication. The chewing gum composition may also contain a cationic material and or an orally active metallic ion. The chewing gum composition will provide surface conditioning effects on a subject's teeth and or oral mucosa and the crunchy texture is used as a sensate to reinforce these effects. The surface conditioning effects can be measured through in vitro or in vivo testing. The in vitro testing shows a total surface energy and or a lewis base score to increase immediately after treatment with the chewing gum and then decrease over time.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2000Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Trevor Neil Day, Donald James White, Jr.

Publication number: 20040126331Abstract: Liquid dentifrice compositions are provided which give improved cleaning performance and flavour display when used in the small amounts that can be dispensed onto a typical electric toothbrush head. The liquid dentifrice has a viscosity of less than about 500 Pa.s at 0.1 s−1 at 25° C. Representative compositions include greater than about 2% by weight of a surfactant; greater than about 1.2% flavour and greater than 50% liquid carrier materials, including controlled amounts of water and humectants, or alternatively polyoxyethylene thickeners.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2003Publication date: July 1, 2004Applicant: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Ruth Ann Corcoran, Trevor Neil Day, Mark Ieuan Edwards, Sheri Anne Hunt

Patent number: 6479038Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a visually clear, dentrifice gel comprising; a) sufficient tetrasodium pyrophosphate to provide from 0.2% to 5% pyrophosphate anion; b) a silica dental abrasive having a refractive index of from 1.445 to 1.47; c) from 0.7% to 3% sodium alkyl sulphate; and d) an aqueous liquid carrier. The gel has excellent clarity, high anticalculus efficiency and good foaming. According to a further aspect of the invention there is provided a process for making a clear dentifrice gel comprising the step of adding anhydrous tetrasodium pyrophosphate to an aqueous carrier, the gel comprising: a) a silica dental abrasive having a refractive index of from 1.445 to 1.47; and b) an aqueous liquid carrier comprising less than 27% total water. The use of anhydrous tetrasodium pyrophosphate allows greater formulation flexibility at the processing stage by freeing up water for the dissolution and/or hydration of other dentrifice components.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventor: Trevor Neil Day
