    Abstract: These and other objects of the present invention are provided by an ambient load waveguide switch mounted between a feed horn and a low noise amplifier in a ground based antenna. The ambient load waveguide switch includes a housing assembly having a through path. A shuttle assembly is positioned within the housing assembly and moves linearly within the housing assembly on a guide assembly between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the shuttle assembly has a waveguide alignable with the through path of the housing assembly. In a second position, the shuttle assembly has an ambient load element alignable with the through path of the housing assembly. A motor assembly moves the shuttle assembly in a first direction and compresses a first spring to bias the shuttle assembly into the first position. The motor assembly moves the shuttle assembly in a second direction and compresses a second spring to bias the shuttle assembly into the second position.

    Abstract: An improved disk drive unit is provided for use in microcomputers such as personal computers and the like. The disk drive unit includes a substantially sealed disk drive housing and related circuit board with drive electronics carried by a common rigid chassis. A power connector plug is securely mounted onto the chassis at a rear margin thereof and cooperates with one or more interface connectors to permit simple slide fit installation of the disk drive unit into a computer system cabinet, such as a central processor unit for a computer. In addition, the disk drive unit includes improved shock mounts for supporting the sealed disk drive housing from the rigid chassis. The disk drive unit further includes a floating bushing arrangement for interconnecting the circuit board to the disk drive housing in a manner substantially isolating thermal expansion characteristics of the circuit board from the remainder of the disk drive unit.

    Abstract: An improved spindle motor flex cable and related mounting arrangement are provided for use in a computer disk drive unit to couple a disk drive spindle motor to associated drive electronics. The flex cable comprises a flexible ribbon base with multiple conductors at one side thereof, wherein the flex cable is supported on a substantially sealed disk drive housing with the conductor side presented generally toward the housing. An inboard end segment of the flex cable is folded back upon itself for outward exposure of inboard conductor ends to permit facilitated connection as by soldering to spindle motor leads protruding from the housing. An outboard end segment of the flex cable extends beyond a side margin of the disk drive housing to expose outboard ends of the conductors for connection as by soldering to a connector fitting oriented to face away from the housing for easy plug-in connection or the like to drive electronics located, for example, an adjacent circuit board.
