  • Patent number: 8121101
Abstract: A method of transmitting data over a plurality of channels, said channels forming a bonded channel comprising a bonded channel superframe, the bonded channel superframe comprising a bonded channel beacon period and a bonded channel data period; broadcasting a control message on a bonded channel superframe, said control message indicating that subsequent transmission will be over distinct channels, each of said channels comprising a distinct superframe comprising a beacon period and a data period, and transmitting in each of the distinct channels a sequence of superframes, each superframe comprising a distinct beacon period followed by a distinct data period.

  • Publication number: 20070054682
Abstract: The present invention relates to broadband wireless communication using multiple carrier frequencies, and the selection or allocation of those frequencies. The invention is particularly but not exclusively related to ultra wideband (UWB) technologies. The present invention provides a method of dynamically selecting carrier frequencies for carrying a broadband channel, the method comprising: allocate a group of carrier frequencies for carrying the broadband channel; identify a number of alterative groups of carrier frequencies; monitor channel performance of the broadband channel for the allocated group of carrier frequencies; re-allocate the broadband channel to be carried by one of the alternative groups of carrier frequencies in response to the monitored channel performance degrading below a threshold.

  • Publication number: 20050249244
Abstract: The present invention relates to packet construction of format for communications across multiple access networks such as wireless local area networks (WLAN). The present invention provides a device for use in a wireless network and comprising means for generating a packet comprising a first portion having a destination address and preferably a network duration identifier for a recipient device in the network, and a second portion; and means for transmitting the first portion at a predetermined coding and/or modulation rate, and means for transmitting the second portion at a higher coding and/or modulation rate.
